Kimberley Parr Black

Kimberley Parr Black, 62, of Houston, Texas, passed away suddenly on January 27, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and kindness. Born in Houston on May 29, 1962, to the late Ben and Jimmie Parr, Kim lived a life full of warmth and compassion.

Kim is survived by her loving husband, Donald Black Jr.; her children, Joshua Davidson Sr. (with Elizabeth Markwardt), Amy Tavares (with Dorgival Tavares), Lindsey Neville (with Jeff Neville), and Kayla Black (with Austin Huckfeldt); and a host of 11 beloved grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.

Kim's family was her greatest joy, and her devotion to them was immeasurable. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, always putting the needs of others before her own. Her home was a place where everyone felt welcome, and her vibrant energy lit up every room she entered. Kim had a special bond with her grandbabies, and she delighted in their laughter, always going out of her way to bring joy into their lives.

In addition to her deep love for family, Kim had a lifelong passion for animals, especially bunnies and cats. Her compassion extended to all living creatures, and she was known for her generosity in caring for those in need. She had an infectious personality, always ready to share a laugh or offer a helping hand. Her bright spirit and outgoing nature made her a joy to be around, and she could always be counted on to make someone smile.

Kim was proud of the roles she held in her professional life, especially as a cashier and dispatcher. She connected with countless people over the years, bringing her signature warmth and humor to everyone she met. Her love for connecting with others extended beyond the workplace, and she never missed a chance to engage with those around her.

An adventurous spirit, Kim was always ready to take on new challenges. Whether she was experimenting with new recipes as a self-proclaimed foodie or becoming an accomplished swimmer and pianist in her younger years, she embraced every opportunity with enthusiasm.

Kim was preceded in death by her parents, Ben T. Parr Jr. and Jimmie Jurden Parr, whose love and guidance shaped her into the caring and compassionate woman she was.

Her passing leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew her, but her memory will continue to live on through the lives she touched. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the American Humane Society in honor of Kim's love for animals.

Kim's love, light, and laughter will be dearly missed by all, but her legacy of kindness, love, and joy will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing her.
