Obituary

Kevin Patrick McGill of Houston, TX passed on June 21, 2017 at the age of 50 years old. Kevin is survived by his wife Brenna Crawford, parents Barry and Sheila McGill, his sister Michele McGill and many extended aunts, uncles and cousins. Kevin was born in Washington DC and although he lived in Texas for 37 years, he forever considered himself from Virginia. He attended middle and high school in Spring, TX and went on to graduate from the University of Houston with a BBA in Accounting and pursued a career in IT. Kevin will be fondly remembered as a great guy who had both a good heart and an abundance of family and friends that he liked to entertain with his sarcastic sense of humor. Whether it was a political debate or a competitive game of bar trivia, Kevin enjoyed engaging in banter amongst friends and foes. A true techie whose interests included movies, books, video games and computers. He was a Washington Redskins fan for life which he boasted about often but usually not late in the season. Earlier this year, he had made the big decision to finally embrace the Houston Texans as well. Kevin was a tried and true fan of many sports including University of Houston Cougar football, the Houston Rockets, the Houston Aeros and the Houston Dynamo but his main focus was European soccer which he often travelled with friends to other countries to watch matches. His love of Liverpool soccer was intense as he would watch as many games as possible even if it meant getting up at 6:30 on a Saturday morning. One of the brightest, funniest people who loved to laugh and make those around him laugh. There was always music in Kevin's life whether he was blasting Rush or Pink Floyd from his bedroom in his teen years, to upping the jukebox selection so his songs played first in his later years. With the sounds of the Pixies, The Pogues, Sonic Youth, The Clash, Pavement, Joy Division, Dropkick Murphys just to name a few – there was always good music to be heard at his home or car. Kevin loved to discover bands in their infancy and share his newly discovered gems with friends. He had a fond love for Ireland and all things Irish from music, people, culture and spirit. We will forever miss his smile and gentleness. Toast a Guinness in his honor and RIP Schmev. 'May your troubles be less and your blessings be more and nothing but happiness come through your door.' Services to celebrate Kevin's life will be held at Klein Funeral Home Magnolia/The Woodlands located at 14711 FM 1488, Magnolia, TX 77354 on Saturday, July 15th at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Kevin McGill's name to The Healing House (In honor of Kevin's cousin Randon Costello) at http://healing-house.org/Product/Default.asp under the Memorial Donations link which will also benefit Randon's Place in Lafayette, Lousiana.
