Kevin Keifer was born in Mineola, New York on October 8, 1954. By age 8, he and his family moved to the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of Asheville, North Carolina. He remained in North Carolina throughout his college years.

Kevin was an extremely proud graduate of the University Of North Carolina Chapel Hill (UNC)  – class of 1977. He remained an avid Tarheel fan for his entire life. Kevin continued his education and received his MBA from Western Carolina University in 1985. He also worked tirelessly to earn an MA from the University of Houston – Clear Lake in 2004.

Kevin had a successful career with Marriott Hotels for many years in North Carolina. In May 1993, Kevin began working for the City of Houston where he held many leadership positions until his retirement in 2019.

Kevin had a love for all college sports. His favorite team and sport without question, was UNC basketball. Other interests included reading John Grisham novels, cross-stitch, and knowing enough trivia that he could have been a contestant on Jeopardy. Kevin also enjoyed listening to many genres of music and watching classic movies - of which, "Gone With The Wind" was his favorite.

Kevin met his wife, Janice Anderson early 1988 while working at Courtyard by Marriott in Cary, North Carolina. They went on to be married later that year on November 17, 1988. After having three children, they moved to Houston, Texas in 1992. By 1999 they had six wonderful children. Kevin was a proud husband, father, and grandpa. He loved his family very much.
