Kenneth Paul Wright was born in Lawrence County, Illinois on November 15, 1926. He
passed into the presence of our Lord on June 21, 2017.
He is preceded by his parents, William Cook and Edna Frances Wright; his son,
William Kenneth Wright; his siblings, Effie Martin, Lula Holman, Mae Pavich, Ralph
Wright, Vance Wright, Ida McKeighan, Bernice Bryans, Billy Wright, Donald Wright,
Peggy Lou Williamson.
He is survived by his wife of almost 70 years, Bettie Wright; his son and wife,
Randy and Cheryl Wright; his daughter and husband, Barbara and Johnny Pope.

He is also survived by his grandchildren, Missy Dudley, Dan Wright, Claire Williams,
Stephen Wright, Heather Matthews, Juliana Friedman, Jonathan Pope and Sean Pope; his
sister Patty Wood and numerous great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces.

Paul Wright exemplified what it means to be born again. Once he gave his heart to
Christ as a young husband and father, he never turned back. Everything changed and
it was all for good. His wife Bettie and he were saved on the same day in a revival
meeting in Indiana on Mother's Day 1958. He was a long time deacon at First Baptist
Church of Hammond, Indiana. In the 1960s, he bought and serviced one of the buses
in the church fleet at First Baptist. He averaged driving that bus 300 miles per
Sunday for several years, picking up kids for Sunday School and then taking them
home after church. Paul Wright was one of the spiritual pioneers who helped lead
First Baptist of Hammond, Indiana to become at one time the largest Sunday School
in the world.
Paul Wright enjoyed fishing. At their Missouri home, he fished for rainbow trout on
Lake Taneycomo and large mouth bass on Bull Shoals. There was a saying among the
fishermen, "If Paul Wright ain't catching them, they ain't biting." One of his
great delights was playing bluegrass music. He brought many hours of happiness to
his grandchildren whom he taught to play in the bluegrass festivals with him.
In his later years, he became a faithful deacon at Christchurch Baptist Fellowship
in Houston where his son-in-law is pastor and daughter is pianist. Paul Wright has
left an indelible impression of genuine Christ-likeness that will never be
forgotten. His joyful spirit lifted everyone around him. Truly, to know him was to
love him.


The family will receive visitors Tuesday, June 27th from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Klein
Funeral Home, 16131 Champion Forest Drive, Spring, TX 77379.  Funeral Services will
be held Wendesday, June 28th at 10:30 AM at Christchurch Baptist Fellowship, Houston,
TX 77066, Pastor Johnny Pope officiating.  Interment will follow at 12:45 PM at
Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77038.
