Kenneth "Ken" Edward Gatewood, age 81, passed away peacefully on October 11, 2019. Ken was born in Houston, TX on January 27, 1938. Known to most as "Pop", he deeply loved his family, classic cars, and re-engineering everything. He was raised in Houston and served in the U.S. Army in Korea. While on leave, he returned home to marry his sweetheart, Ollie Williams, on Christmas Eve. After his return from military service, he attended the University of Houston, studying Electrical Engineering. He worked for Texas Instruments for over 20 years where his worked as a Manager. Ken enjoyed rebuilding classic cars and racing motorcycles, traveling abroad, playing with his grandsons and great grandsons, and never reading the instruction sheets. He was a kind soul who always wore his heart on his sleeve and loved to spend time with his best girl and best friend.

Ken was preceded in death by his mother and father, Grace and Edward Gatewood, sister Joyce Gatewood, and brother, Robert Gatewood. Kenneth leaves behind his beloved wife of 60 years, Dr. Ollie Gatewood, brother, Ronald Gatewood and wife Barbara, son James Gatewood, Sr., daughter Karen Artigue and husband Paul, grandsons, James Gatewood, Jr., Derek Sawyers and William Sawyers, great grandsons, Kenneth James Gatewood and Austin Gatewood as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation for family and friends will held on Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at 9:00 am with a celebration of his life following at 10:00 a.m. at Klein Funeral Home, 14711 FM 1488, Magnolia, TX 77355. Burial will be conducted in Oakhurst, TX at Mt. Capers Cemetery at 1:00 p.m.
