Kenneth "Kenny" Edward Effinger, passed from life on this earth at the age of 69 on Friday, October 14, 2022, at his home in Houston, Texas, surrounded by his beloved family.

Kenny was born to the late Harvey Hall and Evelyn Morine Effinger on September 11, 1953, in Houston, Texas. He fell third in the birth order of his siblings, following Mike and Bill, who both predeceased him. His sister Jill, with whom Kenny was especially close, is the youngest. Kenny was raised in Houston and graduated from Westchester High School in 1972 and from the University of Houston with a degree in accounting in 1978. He earned his CPA in 1983.

On July 2, 2006, Kenny met the love of his life, Lynn. Their first date was at Rudy Lechner's in Houston…with a group of people Kenny had gotten together for dinner. They married on May 19, 2007, surrounded by family and friends. Though they just had 15 short years together here on this earth, anyone around them could tell they were meant for each other. They loved to work together on jigsaw puzzles, watch great crime shows, and spend time with grandchildren. Kenny would do anything for Lynn, including warming up her side of the bed because he knew she was sensitive to cold.

Kenny's pride and joy were his kids, Jeremy and Tracy, and as the years passed, his grandkids. He loved to spoil everyone he loves and often ran interference for the grandkids so they wouldn't get in trouble.

Kenny may have been a spreadsheet-creating rule-follower (he was an accountant, after all), but he loved an adventure. His parents lived in Europe after he finished high school, where his dad worked for an offshore engineering firm. He joined them when they were in Holland and worked as a roughneck on drilling rigs. His sense of adventure carried him on many vacations, as well.

Kenny loved any outdoors trips, but especially trips to the beach. He treated his family to a beach trip several years in a row, creating life-long memories for everyone. Kenny and Lynn took many trips together, especially loving the ones where they went a little "off grid" with no TV and a double hammock to just enjoy each others' company.

Kenny was generous in every way possible. Certainly, he was generous financially, as he had opportunity, but even more importantly, he was generous with love, with compassion, with time, and probably mostly with service. A friend recently said the only way he could describe Kenny was that he was a good man and a servant. Kenny spent his entire life in service. He served the community, he served his clients, he served his brethren in the church, and he served his family.

Above all else, he served God. He was baptized into Jesus Christ in 1975, and has not wavered from his resolve to serve God since then. He's a dedicated Christian, husband, father, Opa, friend, employee, and accountant.

Kenny is preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Evelyn Effinger, and brothers Michael and Bill Effinger. Kenny leaves behind his loving wife, Lynn; children Jeremy Effinger (Valerie) and Tracy Andrews (Bill); stepsons Micah Prine (Mayra), Nathan Prine, and Jacob Prine (Nicole); and 13 grandchildren: Corinne, Grey, Benjamin, Brayden, Ellie, Isabel, Emma, Jordan, Jacob, Maddox, Harper, Jaxson, and Olivia. Kenny is also survived by his little sister Jill Feise and husband David, as well as many nieces, nephews, and other loved ones.
