Ken Beckemeyer, 71 of Houston passed peacefully into the arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Thursday, March 10, 2022. Ken was born in St. Charles, Missouri on August 19, 1950 to Paul and Alice Beckemeyer.  Ken grew up in Winfield, Missouri in a family of boys. His childhood passions were baseball and fishing. He shared the love of baseball with his dad and brothers not only on the field but also cheering for their favorite team, The St. Louis Cardinals.  Later on in life, Ken changed his team to the Astros which made for some fun competition when the Cardinals were in town.

At 18, before attending college Ken went to work for Nooter Corporation and continued to work for them while attending Missouri Baptist University. In 1971, Ken married Cathy Rollins and for the next ten years as Ken continued in his career with Nooter Corporation they traveled to twenty states for work and another 15 for pleasure. In 1981, pending the birth of their first child they decided it was time to reduce the travel and Ken accepted another position with Nooter Corporation as the area construction manager in Baton Rouge, LA. While living in Louisiana both children, Chad and Casey were born and they became a family of four. The family then moved west with the opening of a new office in Beaumont, TX and the final move to Houston in 1986 when Nooter Corporation purchased Wyatt Field Services. Soon Ken moved from Construction Manager to VP of Construction. After 30 years of service Ken left the Nooter family. AltairStrickland became his new work family and he was there until he retired in 2015. Beckinson was opened in 2014 allowing the opportunity for Chad and Ken to work together again. His daughter, Casey was the perfect choice as office manager. For the next eight years he had something few men his age have, an excuse to call or text his children every single day. He was so proud of them. He taught them by example what hard work and integrity looked like and they did not disappoint him. For over fifty years Ken worked in the Industrial Construction Industry. The friendships he cultivated and the people he mentored over the years meant the world to him.

Ken's life wasn't all work. As a teenager, Ken spent his summers at Whispering Winds Bible Camp. The camp was owned and operated by his Grandpa and Grandma Douglas. It was there that he made his profession of faith and was given the opportunity to share that with others. He loved camp and loved telling stories of his experiences there.

While living in Louisiana in the late 70's Ken made the decision to become a Mason and then a Shriner. He decided to join the clown unit and Freckles the Clown was born. Helping children became a passion and for many years he spent weekends raising money for Shriner's hospitals and visiting with children in hospitals or homes.

Another of Ken's passions was wildlife and nature preservation. Yes, he hunted but he respected the gifts God provided us with and he taught that to his children and grandchildren. He believed strongly in wildlife management and leaving this world better than he found it and that he accomplished. It took a while but Ken became an Astros fan and shared that with his family even making it to several World Series games and a playoff game in Fenway Park. Helping coach and umpire baseball games for his son and grandchildren was another blessing.

Most importantly, Ken loved his family both immediate and extended. His brothers-in-law were like brothers and his nieces and nephews he held close to his heart. His children only stopped being the most important children in his life when the grandchildren were born. Oh, how he loved them. He couldn't stand going a week without seeing them. He wanted to share everything with them, from weekends at the deer lease and swimming to baseball games and cruises. For over fifty years, Cathy shared his hopes and dreams and together they raised their family. They not only traveled through life together but they loved to travel to new and old places. They made it to 47 states and more than twenty countries. Ken's favorite mode of transportation was a cruise ship.  Ken and Cathy took their 31st cruise together  just a month before his passing.

He is preceded in death by his father, Paul Beckemeyer; mother, Alice Beckemeyer; and infant brother, David Paul.

Kenneth is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Cathy Beckemeyer; his son, Chad Beckemeyer and wife Lauren; daughter, Casey Miller and husband Slade; grandchildren, Curtis Miller, Maclynn Beckemeyer, Stagg Beckemeyer, Avely Miller, Lottie Beckemeyer, and soon to be born Baby Miller; siblings, Bill Beckemeyer and wife Jean, Tom Beckemeyer and wife Polly, and Rob Breiding; mother-in-law, Sharon Rollins; many aunts and uncles; brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law; cousins; nieces; nephews; great-nieces; great-nephews; great-great nieces; great-great nephews; and numerous friends.

A visitation will be held from 5-8pm on Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at Klein Funeral Home, 9719 Wortham Blvd., Houston, TX 77065.  A funeral service for Kenneth will be held at 10am on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at Klein Funeral Home on Wortham Blvd., to be immediately followed by committal in Klein Memorial Park in Cypress, TX.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Kenneth's name to Shriners Children's Hospital are preferred.
