Kendal Laskowski, 46, of Cypress, Texas, passed away May 24, 2020.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Eugenia (Genie) Caraway Laskowski; sons, Wyatt Anthony Laskowski and Meyer Garrison Laskowski; his parents, Philip and Susan Laskowski; brothers, Eric Laskowski and Kelly Laskowski; sisters-in-law, Tamara Laskowski and Amy Laskowski; uncle, Mike Rush;  aunt, Cherry Rush;  cousins, Kris Osterman and Roseanna Williams;  father and mother-in-law, Gary and Debbie Caraway; brother and sister-in-law, Brandon and Jamie Lynn Caraway; and nieces and nephews, Sophie Laskowski, Mason Laskowski, Ethan Laskowski, Peyton Mac Caraway, Brandon (Bo) Caraway Jr., Charlie Caraway, Ryker Caraway.

Kendal was born in Brenham, Texas on November 14, 1973, to Susan and Philip Laskowski.  He followed right behind his twin brother Kelly, and a couple of years behind his older brother, Eric.  For the first two years, he lived on the family farm in Chappell Hill, Texas.  The family moved to Jersey Village, Texas, where he would attend grade school through high school.  He acted in a number of high school plays and became an accomplished, self-trained guitarist.  He graduated from Jersey Village High School in 1992.  After a short stop at the University of Texas in Austin, he went to Texas A&M University, where he received a Bachelor of Arts in History and German in 1997.  (Kendal always had a real passion for history.  He read almost any history book he could lay his hands on.  But most of all loved sharing his knowledge with anyone that would listen.)

Over the years following graduation, Kendal would have careers as an insurance adjuster, pharmaceutical rep., and, his true passion, teaching.  He travelled to Japan to teach English and even had a television show there where he taught American Culture. He taught Texas History at Campbell Middle School in CFISD, Physics at Klein High School in KISD and retuned to CFISD to teach IPC and Physics at the Brautigam Center.  This last stop in his teaching career is where he felt he belonged. He felt a purpose in life at this campus because it was designed to give students hope that needed a second chance. Kendal believed with all of his heart that what every person who stumbled in life needed was a second chance.  Helping his students find hope and a purpose brought him joy and a feeling of fulfillment.

Shortly before leaving for Japan, he met the true love of his life, Genie Caraway.  They met through a mutual friend at a happy hour and a whirlwind romance began. He proposed to Genie with his Aggie ring, (If you know anything about Aggies this is a BIG deal!) then he was off to Japan to teach English and American Culture. Since they were so far apart, the two of them racked up legendary phone bills talking constantly on the phone, in an era when long distance calls were charged by the minute.  They developed a deep and enduring friendship.   There were many adventures in Japan, which were best told over the dinner table or open fire.  When Kendal stepped foot back on American soil, Genie and he picked up right where they left off.  That Aggie ring was replaced with a diamond solitaire, and they were married on January 18, 2003.

Their love brought forth two amazing boys, Wyatt Anthony Laskowski followed by Meyer Garrison Laskowski.  Kendal's passion for teaching translated to great love and devotion for his boys.  Kendal was a part of every aspect of their growth and development.  He believed anything worth doing was worth doing well.  That meant Wyatt and Meyer practiced a lot.  Wyatt followed in Kendal's footsteps of being a great singer and aspiring musician.  Just like his dad he is also a talented artist and scholar.  Meyer has spent countless hours on the baseball diamond with his dad and coaches and has become an exceptional baseball player, pitching in a Premier league.  Not wanting to be left out of the music scene, Meyer has also pursued drums. If you knew Kendal you knew how very proud he is of both his boys. He made sure everyone knew all of their accomplishments usually through on of his famous paragraph worthy texts messages.

Anything that Kendal endeavored to do, he did it well.  He had a passion for cooking.  Every family member and friend was thrilled to be invited over when Kendal was manning the cooktop or the barbeque pit.  Kendal loved fishing, especially at the place in Sergeant, Texas owned by Genie's parents.  Kendal loved to write poetry and prose.  One of his greatest passions was music.  Kendal had a great singing voice that was all his own. He could play guitar exceptionally well.  As a songwriter, he wrote and performed his own songs.  He created the band, Halo Vine. After more than a year in the studio, he released the self-titled album, Halo Vine.  Kendal sometimes played under the pseudonym Ken Greenwater.  You can find many of Halo Vine's songs on YouTube.  Recently he was inspired to work on a new project called Tin Roof Canons.

Kendal was bigger than life in so many ways. (Don't challenge him to a dominos game unless you can handle the trash talking.) He will be dearly missed by so many people.

You are all invited to the memorial service which will be held Wednesday June 3 ^rd 10:00 am at Epiphany Lutheran Church, 14423 West Rd, Houston, TX 77041. The graveside ceremony will be limited to close family members.
