A Life To Be Celebrated and Remembered

Mr. Keith Arthur Bibbins was born November 5, 1957, to Leona Mae Bibbins Lewis and Rufus Lewis in Detroit, Michigan. He was later adopted by his maternal grandparents, Arthur Frank and Leila Pearl Bibbins. He was called home on Monday, May 15, 2023, in Houston, TX.

From his school days at Martin Luther King, Jr. High School, in Detroit, Michigan, where he was valedictorian of the class of 1975. His personality and intelligence always shined throughout his formal education, from attending Cranbrook Institute in the summers to internships at Kodak as a Chemist in Rochester, New York. Keith attended Howard University, graduating in 1979 with a B.S. in Chemistry, and received an M.S. in Chemistry from Polytechnic Institute of New York graduating in 1982.

Atan early age, he professed his faith in Jesus Christ and joined Bethel AME Church in Detroit, Michigan. There he participated in youth activities, the Young People's Division (YPD) and Youth Choir. On July 2, 2017, he joined Metropolitan AME Church in Washington, D.C. where he was a dedicated member. Under the leadership of Rev. William H. Lamar IV.

While attending Howard University, on April 2nd, 1977, Keith joined the Kappa Alpha Psi XI Chapter fraternity. He was instrumental in starting a Kappa Alpha Psi Chapter at Polytechnic Institute of New York. Keith was always an achiever and after receiving degrees in chemistry, he added Information Technology (IT) to his skill set. Throughout his career he taught Chemistry as an adjunct professor at Lone Star Community College in Houston TX.

As many know, Keith was always ready to celebrate any occasion and event. He was a kind and loving family man, dedicated to ensuring he remained connected to his family and friends, near and far. Keith was zealous about coordinating Bibbins-Sims-Hunter Family Reunions. He was fun-loving and quick with jokes and sarcasm. From coaching little league baseball to being a scout leader, he loved sports and always gave back to the community. He also found time to get lost in the adventures of reading. Four things he loved: God first, family, Kappa Alpha Psi, and Howard University. Keith's proudest accomplishment was being married to Ellen Scott Bibbins and raising their children, Olivia, and Miles.

In his legacy, Keith would like for everyone to remember to smile and celebrate, heed those words- "Always look happy and cheerful. Enjoy life with the one you love and celebrate every day."
