Kay Austin Forsythe, age 83, of Cypress, Texas passed away on Wednesday, January 1, 2025.  She was born on January 5, 1941, in Dallas County, Texas.  Kay (or Granny as she is affectionally called) is now reunited with her husband, Manuel Forsythe, and children, Kenard (Kenny) Forsythe and Gaylyn Forsythe Lieder in heaven.  She is also reunited with her parents, Walter Lee Austin and Carmon Austin, as well as her siblings, Clara Pace Barber and Bryce Alva Austin.  We know that she is also now catching up on long talks with her lifetime best friend, Evelyn Wade.

She is survived by her grandchildren Kristofor Lieder (Rachel), Destiny Lieder Legare (Chad), Jeremy Lieder (Ana) and Charity Lieder Kurtz (Nicholas).  She is also survived by her great grandchildren Haylyn Lieder, Jude Legare, Shiloh Legare, Asher Legare, Ezra Legare, Rhett Lieder, and she was anxiously awaiting her next great granddaughter, Emersyn who will be born in late spring.  She affectionally referred to Debbie Fowler Pennington (Jerry) as her "second daughter".  Her son-in-law, David Lieder and wife Christy have been very faithful to visit with her and include her in family gatherings.   Kay also enjoyed her time with her relatives from Oklahoma who she lovingly referred to as her "Okies".  They have been very faithful up to the end to call her weekly and check on her.  Once her health declined, Kay moved to Fairbanks Court Assisted Living.  The family is very grateful for the love and care that she received there.

Kay graduated from Reagan High School in Houston in January 1959 and married Manuel Forsythe on February 19, 1960, in Houston, Texas.  She and Manuel worked together over the years in their businesses Forsythe Sheet Metal and 4-Sythe Storage and Inspection.  Her favorite thing to do over the years was to sit on her back porch or at her kitchen table surrounded by family and friends telling stories.  Kay was very gifted at writing poems and notes to loved ones.

Kay was saved and baptized when she was approximately 12 years old at Cottage Grove Assembly of God.  She later attended Fellowship Baptist, First Baptist Church of Cypress and Jersey Village Baptist.  In her later years she attended First Baptist Church of Cypress again where she loved her pastors and Sunday school members and attended faithfully until her health worsened.  Even though her family will miss her tremendously we take comfort in confidently knowing that she is with Jesus today.

Kay's bible is marked with many loved scriptures, but she wrote that her favorite scripture is John 16:33 – I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace.  In this world you will have trouble.  But take heart!  I have overcome the world.
