Kathryn Frances Jackson, 87 of Cypress, passed away June 6, 2022 and went to catch up with Dad ("Doc" or "Jack" Jackson – depending on when you knew him). She was born January 9, 1935 in Wichita, Kansas to the late Ely Nathan Thorp and Cora Frances Phelps Thorp.
At her passing, she was surrounded by her Son David, her Daughter-in-law Cathy [SunShine] and Honorary-Daughter Elizabeth. She is survived by David and his two Siblings, Daughter Nancy Vela and Son Steven Jackson.
Including her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Barnett C. Jackson; daughter, Theresa Annette Jackson; brother, Raymond Thorp; and sisters Billie Gibson, Marilyn Messec, Dolores McCuin, and Lois Thorp.
We wanted to let you know that Kay Jackson put up a GREAT FIGHT against her Lung & subsequent Liver Cancer. She PUSHED BACK to the very end! She was NOT a QUITTER !
She was born in Wichita, Kansas but got to Texas AS FAST AS she could! She was 6 months old!
She was a Great Lady, never met a person she didn't like, never met an animal she didn't like, except snakes and roaches .
She loved Texas Sunrises, Texas Sunsets, Texas flowers, the Texas Hill Country and her home of Austin, Texas where she grew up, and enjoyed going for drives West-bound ONLY !
She was married for 49 years to who she described as "the BEST EVER". Nearly 20 of those years, as a U.S. Army Wife.
Just last week, she said she "had a Great Life".
In lieu of flowers, she requested donations be made to Camp Hope ( https://ptsdusa.org/ ), or any Animal group such as SPCA ( https://houstonspca.org/ ) or Special Pals ( https://specialpals.org/ ) near Katy, Texas. We'd like to think you'd donate in Kay Jackson's Honor.
Special Interest FORDs of the 50s – Houston Car Club:
We are GLAD she was able to make the SIF Car Club meeting in Carmine!! She had FUN and LOVED seeing everyone !! She missed seeing those that weren't there.
She LOVED the Car Club group SO MUCH! She repeatedly said that she didn't know what she'd have done without you all, after Dad passed on 22 years ago.
THANK YOU for your concern, checking on her, sending her cards, etc. She really APPRECIATED it!
As she always did, she wishes everyone well and to have a Happy Life.
