Kathleen "Kay" Fenwick, 79, of Houston, died peacefully on December 30. She is survived by her daughters, Ellen and Amy, their husbands and three grandchildren, as well as her sisters Anna Kavanagh and Sr. Patricia McGowan.
Kay received her undergraduate degree from St. John's University in New York and her J.D. from The University of Houston. She began her career as a teacher in the NYC public school system and also helped US soldiers in France earn their GED's. Then, for many years she was Of Counsel with Andrews Kurth. She also clerked for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
Since her retirement, she enjoyed traveling and volunteering with many organizations, especially the American Association of University Women (AAUW).
A woman of many talents, she earned awards as a debate champion, Latin scholar, and handball and ping pong champion. She will be remembered for her voracious love of reading, her quick wit, her passion for knowledge and her generous sharing of her time and talents.
Friends may visit with the family from 3pm to 7pm on Tuesday, January 3 at Klein Funeral Home Champions. A Funeral Mass will be held at 12pm Wednesday, January 4 at St. Ignatius of Loyola Catholic Church, 7810 Cypresswood Drive, Spring, Texas 77379.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Kay's name may be made to the scholarship committees of Cathedral High School (350 E. 56th St., NY, NY 10022) or AAUW North Harris County Branch.
