Obituary

Kathleen Mary Bernice Riley was born March 4, 1954, to John Joseph Nagel and Bernice Mary (Goulet) Nagel in Perham, Minnesota.  Kathy, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to many, went to her Heavenly home on July 18, 2021, at age 67.  She was surrounded and supported by loved ones who will continue to honor her legacy by living life the same way she lived.  A deep and unconditional love for her family that will live on for generations.  This is truly a legacy for all to remember and live by.  Kathy came out a hero and stayed strong until the end. We know she is in Heaven, and we rejoice in the time we had with her.

The simplest pleasures in life brought tremendous joy to Kathy.  She had a vicarious personality that made us all laugh, coupled with an unconditional love that made each of us feel special and adored.  Kathy was a passionate, dedicated, and fiercely loyal family woman who spent a lifetime loving, nurturing, leading, supporting, and celebrating her family.  Kathy absolutely treasured her children and embraced every moment with them.  Kathy especially loved her role as Grammy and was there to support and celebrate the birth of each of her 12 grandchildren.  Kathy's family was her masterpiece and her life's work she was most proud of.

Kathy enjoyed traveling to visit all her children and grandkids.  Whether it was traveling to Patrick's Point in California on a multi-state trip with her husband or throwing amazing pool parties at their home in Magnolia, Texas.  Kathy was always making memories with the people she loved.

Kathy was also a breast cancer survivor.  She was diagnosed back in 2005 and she survived and went on to enjoy seeing grandkids be born many years later.  She is a true family warrior! Kathy was also heavily involved in the long-term care for those suffering from Alzheimer's and other serious illnesses.  She made it one of her life's works to support and care for the most vulnerable people in a long-term care field that spanned over four decades.

She was deeply loved by many families and friends.  She leaves behind a legacy that will be felt for generations.  She will be greatly missed, but we will never forget her and the impact she had on all of us.

Kathy is survived in life by her devoted and loving husband of 46 years, Patrick James Riley and her five children.  Her daughter, Heather Anne Smith and husband Richard of Magnolia, Texas.  Her son, Jason John Riley and wife Joann of Round Rock, Texas.  Her son, Travis Patrick Riley and wife Joanna of Celina, Texas.  Her sons, Russel James Riley and Dustin William Riley of Magnolia, Texas.

Grandchildren: Austin, Isabella, Jackson, Travis Jr., Olivia, Trevor, Peyton, Vivian, Ryan, Annabelle, Sabrina, and Abigail.

Her brother Thomas Nagel and her sister Darlene Arnoldy.

Proverbs 31:31 - Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.
