Kathie L. Edwards passed from this life to the glory of God in her home on Saturday, June 24, 2023, after battling pancreatic cancer for over 20 months. She was surrounded by close family and friends at her bedside as they were praising and honoring her until the angels helped her on her path. She is resting in the presence of God in a world of beauty, peace and no pain.
Kathie was born on December 30, 1960, in Houston, Texas. She began her career in the healthcare insurance industry, working for Aetna and later was responsible for doctor credentialing and ultimately managed the call center at Cigna. On Sept 11, 1986, she met Ted Edwards, and they married four years later on May 26, 1990. Together, they made a beautiful team for 33 years. Kathie's mother, Edna, and her Aunt Joyce founded Westpark Communications in 1968 as an answering service. Kathie left the healthcare arena in 1992 and began working with her mother at Westpark. Her strong sense of business and the way she would network to grow Westpark was truly admirable. After purchasing the business from Edna and allowing her to retire, Kathie continued to build the company into a major call center with customers throughout the nation.
Kathie was such a caring, generous, engaging, selfless person who loved her people fiercely and lived life to the fullest. She always put others first and was an investor in people throughout her life. She was a friend collector. She had a remarkable ability to cultivate sincere and beautiful friendships for life.
She is preceded by her father, Charles F. Burgan and her niece, Megan Burgan. She is survived by her husband, Ted Edwards; her mother, Edna Wesneski; her brothers Terry Burgan, Randy Burgan and Brad Burgan; her daughters Heather Edwards and Alyssa McAfee; her niece Ada Burgan; her nephews Jubal Burgan, Randy Burgan Jr. and Brandon Burgan; her grandchild Ansel Lehning, and many other extended family members.
The family would like to thank, from the bottom of their hearts, the family and friends who sat by Kathie's side endlessly and were there with her until the end, as well as the amazing caregivers who helped ease her pain and took care of her.
Family, friends and associates whose lives Kathie touched are invited to Klein Funeral Home (Champions) on Thursday, June 29, 2023, from 5-8 pm for a visitation and Friday, June 30, 2023 at 2:00 pm for her memorial service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Kathie's honor to The Rose (therose.org).
