Katherine Woodward, aged 81, of Texas passed away Thursday, November 9th at approximately 3 p.m. was born April 6th, 1942, in Michigan.

She is survived by her husband Cliff Woodward and her four sons Ted, Bob, Chris, and JP, her three grandchildren, Ryan, Evan, and Gray and her sister, Mary.

She was proceeded in death by her parents Walter and Helen.

Kati Woodward graduated from Webster University in St. Louis with a Bachelor of Arts in History in 1964. Her roommate was Marsha Mason, the actress. She received her Master of Arts in History from Sam Houston University in Huntsville, TX in 1992. She managed to complete her master's while working and raising a family. She worked in the field of education for forty years. Her employment and volunteer work was primarily in North Harris County.

As a high school teacher Kati always volunteered to sponsor after-school clubs. One of her favorites was Model United Nations. Students sometimes met ambassadors and world leaders and received scholarships from their exposure through this club.

Kati said she wanted to follow her mother's example and study how students learned in order to reach the ones who did not like world history and world geography. She touched many lives through her teaching of world history and world geography.

Another of Kati's passions was the Summit program which Kati began with NHC AAUW's blessing in 2007. NHC AAUW presents the Summit at lower socio-economic schools. Fifteen years of summits later, 8,900 girls have benefitted. Klein Forest High School was the first school. The Summits are based on the Mission Statement of AAUW: To remove education barriers so all girls have a chance to be successful and to empower girls to reach their highest potential. Some of the topics of the day are "Leaving a Positive Digital Image," "Never Give Up," "Healthy Relationships," and "Goal Setting."

Throughout the years, Kati and her husband Cliff have been active in both community and church affairs. They are the proud parents of four sons and are grandparents to three grandchildren. One of Kati's and Cliff's early volunteer efforts in North Harris County still impacts all of us today. They were the co-founders of the Cypress Creek Emergency Medical Services (CCEMS). In 1975, there were no ambulance services at all in the FM 1960 area. Cliff, Kati, Mike and Nancy Maxwell and others banded together and acted. In July 1975, their incalculable hours of planning finally culminated in the founding of CCEMS.

She served the local AAUW Branch (NHC AAUW branch) as president twice. She served on the Architecture Committee for Christ the Good Shepherd Catholic Church.

Kati's educational and leadership qualities and her big heart have always been in direct alignment with the AAUW positions of giving to the community. Her educational philosophy is "Nothing you do for children is ever wasted" – Socrates. Her advice to women as they pursue careers is to think of it as a calling, to hope to change lives, and to be fulfilled by your job. Kati has lived by those words. She has impacted thousands of girls through the Summit program.

In 2019 Kati was honored by being named the Outstanding Educator of the Year by the North Harris County American Association of University Women. She is a 50-Year Honorary Life member of AAUW.

The family will receive visitors Sunday, November 19th, 2023, at the Champions Klein Funeral Home –located at 16131 Champions Forest Drive in Klein, TX 77379 from 5 – 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 20th, at 10 a.m. at Christ the Good Shepherd Catholic Church at 18511 Klein Church Road in Spring, TX 77379.

Serving as pallbearers are her four sons Ted, Bob, Chris, and JP.

Interment to follow immediately at Klein Memorial Park at 9714 FM 2920 Tomball, TX 77375.

A light lunch will be held after the graveside service at the Calabros which is hosted by the Smiths and Calabros. 20818 Bending Pines Lane, Spring, TX 77379.
