Obituary

Mrs. Katherine Elizabeth Lopez Lunsford was promoted to Heaven on August 28, 2022. Kathy was born January 6, 1947 in Houston, Texas to loving parents, Doris and Jesse Lopez. From an early age Kathy's desire was to be a loving wife and mother. She attended Jefferson Elementary, Hogg Junior High, and Davis High School. She met the love of her life, Larry, in early January 1964 at study lab having been seated alphabetically and across from each other. It was love at first sight. Kathy and Larry wed on November 1st, 1966 at Park Temple Baptist Church while Larry was on leave as an Army Private. Together they started a family welcoming their beautiful daughter, Lisa, in December 1969. The Lunsford clan grew again in March 1975 with the addition of their son, Jason. Katherine pursued a career as a Medical Secretary and homemaker.

Kathy had a smile that could light up a room. Her heart was so full of love. She had the joy of Jesus in her heart and wanted to share it with everyone she met. She was always quick to offer a big hug to anyone who needed it. Kathy had a special love for children and was known for making goody bags and sending birthday cards to all the children she knew.  "Mimi" was a devoted mother and grandmother and was happiest when spending time with her family, cooking amazing meals, baking incredibly delicious cakes, and popping the best popcorn in Texas. In most recent days, Mimi was overjoyed to learn her granddaughter Elli is engaged to marry her longtime boyfriend Jake. Also, her grandson, Harley, was accepted to Texas A&M University to study Architecture starting the fall semester.

Katherine is survived by Larry, her devoted husband of nearly 56 years, her daughter, Lisa Page, and husband Jason, son Jason Lunsford and wife Elida. Kathy is also survived by her brother, John Lopez and wife Kathi. Grandchildren, Elli Reid and Harley Page, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, in particular her niece Kim Lopez, who was very near and dear to Mimi's heart. In lieu of flowers, Kathy requests everyone to please consider a donation to: Heart of The Arts, P.O. Box 994 Dickinson, TX 77539 | www.heartofthearts.org . A celebration of Kathy's life will be held on Saturday October 15th, 2022 from 1-3 PM with a reception to follow at Spring Chateau, Madison Square, 4010 FM 2920 Spring, TX 77388.
