Katarzyna (K. Maria) Godzina passed away peacefully the morning of August 12, 2023 in Houston, TX.  She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Zygmunt Godzina; her son Bruce Godzina; and her daughter, Sharotka Simon.

Maria was born Katarzyna Maria Czaja on November 19, 1941 in Ludzmierz/Nowy Targ, Poland.  She was the youngest of five siblings who reached adulthood.  In 1968, she traveled to the U.S. for an exchange program.  In Binghamton, NY, she met her future husband Zygmunt Godzina.  The two were married on August 1, 1970 following K. Maria's graduation from the Akademia Górniczo-Hutnicza (AGH University of Science and Technology) with a degree in geophysics.  The couple moved to Bartlesville, OK and then to Houston, TX to enable K. Maria to pursue her career in geophysics with Phillips 66.  From 1989 to 1996, she took a professional hiatus to raise her children.  From 1996 until her retirement in 2011, she worked as a consultant for Halliburton, which enabled her to live in Norway, Scotland, and Alaska in addition to Houston, TX.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, August 22, 2023 at St. Anne Catholic Church, 1111 S. Cherry Street in Tomball, Texas 77375.  Rosary will be at 10 am and service at 10:30

Se was a great mom, steadfast in faith, extremely generous and loving; a true inspiration to her family.
