Karen Ludwick Matthews, 83, of Spring, Texas, passed away on July 6, 2026, after a long battle with dementia.

Karen was born in Houston, Texas, on March 30, 1943. She graduated from Reagan High School in Houston and attended Sam Houston State University.

On February 3, 1968, she married the love of her life, Jack DeLyle Matthews, in Houston, Texas. Together they shared 58 wonderful years of marriage.

After dedicating herself to creating a loving home and raising her children, Karen began working at the accounting firm of David Patrick & Company. There, she quickly became an invaluable member of the team, known for her exceptional organizational abilities, attention to detail, and computer skills.

One of Karen's greatest gifts was making the world a more beautiful place. She excelled at everything from interior design and cooking to poetry and calligraphy. She cared for her home with quiet devotion and effortless grace, always making family and friends feel welcome.

Nothing brought Karen more joy than being "Gami" to her five treasured grandchildren. They were her greatest delight. Their time together was filled with laughter—just so much laughter—and those joyful moments will forever be cherished by everyone.

Karen is survived by her devoted husband, Jack DeLyle Matthews; her son, Matt DeLyle Matthews, his fiancée, Karen Kolb Steakley, and his children, Lauren Elizabeth Matthews, Macey Matthews Klubnik and her husband, Cade Klubnik, and Cade DeLyle Matthews; her daughter, Karri Luann Matthews, and her children, Holden Thomas Windsor and Cannon Matthew Windsor; her sister, Luann Ludwick Serres; and many beloved nieces and nephews, as well as their children and grandchildren.

Karen will be deeply missed, but the legacy of love, beauty, kindness, and laughter she leaves behind will live on in all who knew and loved her.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 10, at Klein Funeral Home, Champions. A private family intermentservice will follow.
