Karen Elizabeth Copeland, lovingly known as “Sissy,” “Mom,” and “Kiki,” joined her Lord and Savior on October 12 after battling breast cancer with grace and courage with her devoted husband and daughters never leaving her side.
Karen was born to Leigh Ann and Earl Harris on March 3, 1963, in Houston, TX. She was the youngest of three siblings where they spent their childhood in Spring, TX.
A proud graduate of Texas A&M University, Karen went on to dedicate nearly four decades to Dun & Bradstreet, where she spent her entire professional career. She was very successful in business and won many awards, but more importantly, it’s where she met some of her closest lifelong friends.
Having grown up in the same community, attended the same schools, and shared many mutual friends, Karen and Barry had long traveled in the same circles before reconnecting and building a beautiful life together. They shared 14 years filled with travel, time at their ranch in Waller with their dogs and loved ones, and cheering on the Aggies. They married on November 23, 2019, and he remained by her side caring for her with love and devotion through the end of her life.
Karen is remembered for her infectious positive spirit, her kindness, her loyal friendship and contagious laugh. She was loved by so many who had the great fortune of knowing her. She was an incredible mother to her two daughters and gave them the world. When she gained four stepdaughters, she embraced them as her own, expanding her family and her heart. One of the greatest joys of her later years was becoming "Kiki" to her first grandchild, a role she cherished beyond measure.
Karen is survived by her loving husband Barry L. Copeland Jr.; her daughters, Natalie (Michael) Richardson and Caroline Marcom; her stepdaughters, Julia, Olivia, Payten, and Bari Noel Copeland; her grandson, Duke Richardson; her mother, Leigh Ann Poindexter; her sister, Janet (Richard) Daigneault; her brother, Steven Harris; and many dear nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is preceded in death by her father Earl Harris and was at peace knowing she would be reunited with him.
To honor Karen's life, a Visitation will be held on October 20 at 1:00 p.m., followed by a Memorial service at 2:00 p.m. at Champion Forest Baptist Church, a reception will immediately follow at the home of Barry Copeland Sr.
Donations in Karen's memory may be made to Susan G. Komen.
