Karen (Baker) Bernas passed away May 2, 2021 after a lengthy battle with cancer.
She was born October 12, 1944 in Olean New York to George and Mary Baker. She graduated from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Buffalo, New York and moved to Texas in 1975.
Karen spent most of her career as an RN caring for babies in preparation for her true calling as grandmother for her beloved granddaughters, Ally and Tegan. She could be counted on to be at every lacrosse game, dance recital, concert and graduation and was her granddaughters' biggest fan. She left them with so many great memories and will be heartbrokenly missed.
She loved her neighbors and was blessed to have them with her until the end. They shared countless laughs and tears as she fought to have one more day with all of us. Whether it was a chat, meal, prayer or just a stiff drink - she was fortunate to have so many that cared so much for her.
Karen is preceded in death by her father, George Baker; mother, Mary Snopkowski Baker; sister, Ann Nientimp; and brother, John Baker. She is survived by her son, Craig Bernas; daughter-in-law, Jenny Bernas; granddaughters Ally and Tegan Bernas; daughter Kristin McCoy; and son-in-law, Clark McCoy.
