Kamden "Kam" Bogan Thompson entered "Paradise" on Saturday, November 4th, 2017.  His strong heart that he got from his mother finally succumbed to the undiagnosed neuro-muscular disease that he battled for his entire life, but specifically this past year.  Kamden was born into this world on March 6th, 2001 in Houston, Texas to his parents, Rusty and Jennie Thompson.  He was only seven weeks old when he, his big sister Kallie and big brother Kade moved to Budapest, Hungary.  Due to Kamden's illness, the family returned home to their Cypress community in early 2002.  Kamden loved all sports but his favorite was baseball where he played on the West University Challenger League for over 10 years. Kamden also loved to bowl and befriended many at the AMF bowling lanes at Willowbrook where he would drag his own Batman bowling ball and shoes to the alley almost every day during the summer of 2016.  Kamden loved playing Xbox, Wii was on his iPad with his Beats whenever possible.  Kamden had a smile that could melt your heart and it is something he used to help get him out of trouble when being ornery.  While Kamden struggled with epilepsy and autism-like symptoms his entire life, those challenges didn't limit his ability to make lasting impressions on those he came to know and love.

He doled out quite a bit of love to many in the Cypress community.  Since entering hospice in June of this year, the family has learned the extent to which he made his mark on his family, school friends, former teachers, family friends, neighbors and the Cypress community in general.  We envision Kamden swinging a bat in heaven, running the bases with no gait, zipping around heaven on his favorite blue scooter, bowling every day, eating cheeseburgers, queso and enchiladas non-stop, all the while bringing smiles to everyone else in Heaven with his genuine heartwarming smile.  He will be truly missed by his family and friends, both known and unknown, who were inspired by his life as told through the CaringBridge site set up to chronicle his last few months on earth.

Kamden is preceded in death by his grandparents Molly Bogan (Gamolly), Mark Nichols (Bobo), and Pete Peterson (Dr. Pete).  He is survived by his parents Rusty and Jennie, his sister Kallie and his brother Kade.  Kam could not have asked for better siblings.  He is also survived by his very close grandparents Jackie Nichols (GiGi), Linda Peterson (Nannie), Gary Bogan (Poppy), Carleton Thompson (Papa) and Judy Thompson (Gamma), his uncles and aunts Justin and Berkeley Holley, Tres and Gail Thompson, Russ and Suzi Devore, Kylie and Marcus Nichols, Blair Nichols, Chuck Seaman and many cousins.

We are comforted in the fact that Kamden is free of the bondage and pain imposed on him by the neuro-muscular disease. We thank the many physicians and hospital staff who sought to find a cure and heal Kam of these challenges over the past 16 plus years.  We are especially thankful for Houston Hospice who took great care of Kamden while in hospice.

A memorial service celebrating Kamden's life will be held at Lakewood Methodist Church (11330 Louetta Road, Houston, Texas 77070) on Friday, November 10th, at 10:00 AM.
