Juliet was orphaned while still an infant.  She was raised by a family retainer until the age of seven, when she was placed into an orphanage run by the Sisters of the Consolation, a Catholic order of nuns.  Juliet learned to sing and act and became an accomplished embroiderer.  In her final two years with the nuns, she was made teacher of the youngest students, and all her young charges passed their state exams. She stayed with the nuns until she was sixteen.  Being brought up in a deeply religious community, she naturally wanted to become a sister herself.  The Mother Superior counseled my vivacious but deeply devout mother, to spend some time in the outside world before rejecting it.  She was enrolled with a scholarship into a school for teachers.  While there, she realized within weeks that she wanted a life in the outside world.  A few months later, she met and married her husband of 53 years, William Anthony Torrealba.

In 1955, William and Juliet emigrated to the United States where William had lived for 12 years as a young man.  After short stays in New Orleans and Washington D.C., they settled in New Alexandria, Virginia where they raised their children and stayed until William retired in 1975.  They retired to Brownsville, Texas and later moved to Houston in 1997.  Juliet was a fun-loving, affectionate and generous wife, mother and grandmother.  Her foremost joy was her family.  She also loved opera and music of all sorts, as well as dancing, embroidery, reading, travel and meeting people, and informative television.  She is survived by her two Children, Juliet Torrealba Wilson and William A. Torrealba; Grandchildren, Alexander Torrealba Hutchison, Grayce Katherine Palmer, Andrew James Palmer, and Step-Grandson John Robert Palmer; Great-Granddaughter, Kaya Hutchison.
