Julia (Judy Ann) (Garcia) Greer, age 90, of Caldwell, Texas, passed away November 25, 2018, at St. Joseph Hospital in Bryan, Texas. Judy was born September 5, 1928, to Pauline (Raymond) and Jesse Garcia in Rockdale, Texas. Judy graduated from Rockdale High School in Rockdale, Texas and attended business school in Austin, Texas. Judy was united in marriage to Max Weston Greer in December 24, 1949, in Rockdale, Texas. Max was stationed in the Army in Texas, but after their marriage, the couple resided in Sewal, Iowa. To this union, one son was born, Dennis Weston Greer on July 13, 1950. Judy relocated to Lockport, New York, working as a secretary at Simonds/Guteral Steel until her retirement in 1983. Judy was a member of the Eagles Club in New York for many years. Upon retirement, Judy relocated to Texas with her partner, Frank Elkins, living in Katy, Tomball and Caldwell. Judy and Frank enjoyed watching sports together, specifically baseball and football. They enjoyed having family bar-b-ques with their extended family coming to visit. Judy took pride in her appearance and was always very fashionable. She enjoyed attending her younger family member's sporting activities. Judy was a devout Catholic, and her faith was very important to her.
Judy is survived by her son, Dennis Weston Greer of Pleasantville, Iowa; two granddaughters, Kathy Kay (Russ Young) Greer of Pleasantville, Iowa and Stacy Rae (Joseph) Powell of Knoxville, Iowa; four great-grandsons, Dustin Carl Bumgardner, Tyler James Bumgardner, Caleb Matthew Powell, and Daxson Wesley Powell; three great-granddaughters, Cheyenne Alice Elizabeth Weldon, Payton Loretta Bumgardner, and Raeleigh Grace Weldon; brother, Lee (Ruth) Garcia; sister-in-law, Nell Garcia, aunt, Lucille Timkey; Frank's son, Ron (Veronica) Elkins and his family, many cousins, nieces, and nephews, and a host of friends she made over her lifetime. Judy was preceded in death by her partner, Frank Elkins; parents, Jesse and Pauline Garcia, and her brother, Pedro (Pete) Garcia.
A Catholic Rite of Committal will be performed at Klein Memorial Park Cemetery in Pinehurst, Texas by Deacon Kenneth Stanley of Prince of Peace Catholic Church on December 10, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. Arrangements were made by Klein Funeral Home in Tomball, Texas.
