Judith Helen Vanderzyden went to her Heavenly home on July 16, 2017. Judie was born September 2, 1942 to Earl and Helen Humphrey in Cleveland, Ohio. Judie grew up the oldest of 3 girls, learning her unique sense of humor from her father and her feisty love of life from her mother. In Cleveland, Judie met and married Raymond Vanderzyden June 20, 1964. Together they moved around the Midwest, from Ohio to Illinois. In 1981 Ray and Judie moved to Houston where they raised their 5 children.
Judie was a woman of many talents. Without a college degree, she worked her way to being a branch manager for 2 different banks. She worked hard, but decided to leave the banking world to work various part-time jobs in order to be there for her kids. Judie's last job was working in the transportation department for Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District where she retired in 2013. Judie enjoyed spending time with her children and her grandchildren. She was tough enough to raise 4 boys and tender enough to raise a daughter. Her love extended to her 9 grandchildren, who affectionately called her "MeeMaw".
Judie was a member of Cornerstone Orthodox Presbyterian Church. She loved to do needle-point and crochet.
Judie was preceded to Heaven by her mother, father, and sister Linda. She is survived by her husband, her children John, William, James, Scott, and Laura, her 9 grandchildren, Sister Sharon Toth and brother-in-law Don Toth
The Vanderzyden family has asked for donations to the Cornerstone Orthodox Presbyterian Church Building Fund, 4915 Whispering Fall Drive, Houston, Texas 77084 in lieu of flowers.
