Juanita Mae Kersten , 91, of Cypress, Texas, died Tuesday April 5, 2022.  She was a resident of  Spring Cypress Assisted Living located at 16306 Spring Cypress Rd, Cypress, Tx, 77429.  Hospice and Clergy were present to ease her journey home. She was surrounded by those who loved her.

Juanita was born on May 31, 1930, at the Baptist Hospital in Houston, Tx, to Daniel Emil and Clara (Mueller) Quade. She was married at the Messiah Lutheran Church on August 6, 1949 to  Edward Alan Kersten, Sr. the son of Mr. & Mrs E.W. Kersten of 7301 Tremper, Houston, Tx.

Including her parents, Juanita was preceded in death by her husband and son Edward Alan Kersten, Jr. and beloved sister Florine Englehorn.

Family survivors include Sons:  Daniel (Stephanie) Kersten and David (Teresa) Kersten.  Daughter-In-Law:Debbie Kersten. Grandchildren: Jessica (Davy) Pulinx, Andrea (Jonathan) Vacek, Richard (Rachel) Kersten, Christopher (Gretchen) Kersten, Great-Grand Children: Xavier, Lorelei and Wesley Vacek, Logan and Lauren Kersten.

Juanita was Baptized on July 6, 1930, and her Confirmation was April 2, 1944,  at the Messiah Lutheran Church, Houston, Tx.  She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, 907 Hicks St, Tomball, Texas for more than 60 years.  She was active with the Willing Workers,  Lutheran Seniors,  Alter Guild, and enjoyed the bell choir.

Juanita attended George Washington Junior High School and was a member of the National Junior Honor Society.  She graduated from Sam Houston High School 1948 and was Valedictorian. She won the American Legion Award, lettered in volleyball and was team manager. Served as editor of the Cosmos and captain of the fire patrol. She was a member of the Aegis (school newspaper) and National Honor Society.  After graduation, Juanita aspired to be a Mathematics teacher. She attended University of Texas for one semester. She then married and was blessed with three boys. Her favorite dessert was banana pudding.

Juanita worked as County Clerk Precinct 4,  for several years. After retirement, she became interested in counted cross-stitch. Some say she was the "Queen of Hardanger." She worked as clerk at a shop called "3 Stitches."  She enjoyed gardening, stained- glass, travel, getting her hair done on Fridays, and an occasional card game with the girls on Thursdays.

Juanita's greatest attribute was her Faith in God and gentle nature.  She will be missed by all.
