In memory of Joyce Lawanda Nemec
August 19, 1941 - January 20, 2017

Joyce Lawanda Nemec , 75 , passed away on January 20 , 2017 after a courageous
battle with cancer.
She was born on August 19, 1941, in Athens, Louisiana, to Ernest "Doc" Canterbury
and Camille Pike.  She was preceded in death by her father, Ernest "Doc" Canterbury,
mother, Camille Canterbury, brother, Don Canterbury, son, James Nolan Kay, Jr., and
granddaughter, Jennifer Gross.  She is survived by her husband, Johnnie Nemec;
daughters, Beverly Persse and husband David, Brenda Barnes and husband Bill, Rebecca
Janacek and husband Tim, Sharon Smith and husband Tony; sons, Jerry, "J.L.", Kay and
wife Kelly, Jeffery Kay and wife Christie; grandchildren, Carrie Neer, Russell
Petee, Jr., William Barnes, Bryan Barnes, Kimberly Barnes, Charles Gross, IV, Kevin
Smith, Courtney Persse, Hunter Janacek, Justin Kay and Landon Kay; great
grandchildren, Zachary Neer, Madison Neer, Grayson Neer, Audrey Petee and Ryan
Petee; sister, Voncile Hood; brothers, Ronald Canterbury, Darrell Canterbury and
wife Joyce, James Canterbury and wife Clarine, Michael Canterbury and wife Judy,
Harold Canterbury and wife Belinda.

Joyce moved to Houston in November 1969, where she devoted her life to raising her
six children.
Joyce, or "Nana",as she was affectionately known by all her grandchildren, loved to
spoil them every chance she got, and also loved cheering them on during their
sporting events.  Some of her greatest pleasures in life were simple things like
cooking for her family, trips to the casinos, watching her beloved Houston Rockets
and her one true passion playing Bingo with family and friends.  She was one of kind
and will be truly missed by many.

Family will receive friends on Thursday, January 26th, 2017 from 6:00pm to 8:00 p.m.
at Klein Funeral Home, 16131 Champion Forest Drive Spring, Tx. 77379.  Services to
celebrate Joyce's life will be held on Friday, January 27th, at 10:00 a.m. at Klein Funeral Home- Champion Forest,  with Interment to follow at Houston National Cemetery.
