Joyce Marie Legnon Kochanek, 86 of Houston, TX, went to her eternal resting place in the arms of God our Father on September 4, 2017.  She was born July 7, 1931, in New Orleans, LA to the late Clarence and Mollie Leonard Legnon.  In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by her husband Stanley Kochanek; son, Craig Retif; and brother, C.J. Legnon.

She is survived by her daughters, Donna Retif and Janet Retif; son, Robert F. Retif, IV (Wendy); granddaughters, Gia Faucheux and Mollie Stanfield; great-grandson, Noah Mathes; brother, Lawrence Legnon; and a host of nieces and nephews from the Retif and Legnon families.

The family of Joyce would like to express a sincere thank you to close caregivers, Bernadette Mitchell and Kathy Martin for their kindness and caring of their mother.

A time of visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 am with a Funeral Mass to begin at 10:30 am on Friday, Sept. 22, 2017, at Christ The Redeemer Catholic Church.  Burial will follow at the Houston National Cemetery.

If so desired the family is requesting donations be made to the St. Jude Children's Cancer Research.
