Obituary

Joyce Marie James Morgan, 89, went home to be with her Lord and
Savior, Jesus Christ, on July 19, 2021. She passed away peacefully in her
sleep with family present.
Joyce was born to Jasper Harvey James & Marie Nixon May James on
September 14, 1931 in Rosebud, Texas. Her parents preceded her in
death as did two of her sisters, Kathleen McLaughlin & Bess McDonald.
She is survived by sister, Letha Howell of Ohio, her children: Cindy
Blankenship, Cheri Norris & husband Taylor, Mike Morgan & wife Sheila, Ben Morgan & wife Susan, &
David Morgan & wife Becki. She had 11 grandchildren who she loved dearly & who loved their Mam-ma.
Two grandsons recently passed & preceded her in death, Rudy Morgan & Matt Blankenship. Surviving
grandchildren are Jennifer Norris Vest (Stacy), Jonathan Blankenship (Jennifer), Ashleigh Blankenship
(Dan Murray), Julie Norris Clements (Byron), Justin Norris (Audrey), Holly Morgan Loftis (Wilson), Wayne
Morgan (Megan), Erin Morgan Fulkerson (Ralph), & Kellye Morgan Robinson. She is survived by her
precious great-grandchildren: Tyler & Sheridan Vest, Ava & Alexa Blankenship, Cady & Brynlee Clements,
Hunter & Haley Norris, Dash & Declan Murray, Addason Morgan, Frank, James & Bennett Loftis, &
Sawyer & Bennett Morgan. She is also survived by many beloved grandchildren & great-grandchildren
by marriage, nieces & nephews & many other loved ones & friends.
The little town of Rosebud was where Joyce grew up until her family moved to Houston when she was
15 years old. Due to her academic excellence she graduated from Reagan High School at the age of 16.
She married William Francis Morgan at the age of 19 & they had five children together. Bill's jobs took
them to various cities to live & eventually they ended up back in Houston. They later divorced but
remained friends until his death.
Joyce was a stay-at-home mom until she went to work as a temporary worker for the newly forming
company of UPS. Joyce eventually joined the company as a full time employee working in Human
Resources until she retired 25 years later. Every Christmas, she joined with the other UPS managers,
driving delivery trucks to get all of the packages delivered by Christmas Eve!
Joyce was every woman - daughter, wife, mother, sister, aunt, career woman, Red Hat Chick, & the most
amazing involved generous grandmother/great-grandmother you could ever meet. Her smile was
infectious & the stories she shared of the "four sisters" growing up were hilarious & made us laugh out
loud!
She will be loved forever & missed until we are reunited once again in Heaven.
Services are scheduled for September 19 @ 3:00 p.m. at Cypress United Methodist Church,
13403 Cypress N. Houston, Cypress, TX 77429.
Joyce loved wearing her jeans so please feel free to wear your jeans to the service!
In lieu of flowers, if you so desire, please make donations to Cypress United Methodist Church.
If you choose to send flowers, please have them delivered to the church. Thank you
