Joyce Loretta Curry, age 83, passed away Sunday April 23, 2017 at 8:55 pm. Joyce was born December 31, 1933, in Old Security, Texas, in a little country farmhouse. She grew up in the Denver Harbor area of East Houston as a young girl. Later, in her mid-twenties, she met her future husband, Cecil William Curry, who had moved to Houston after serving in the U.S. Army traveling throughout Germany, Japan, Okinawa, and Austria. He worked for Western Electric and became the love of her life. They married on April 4, 1959, and recently celebrated their 58th anniversary.
She is predeceased by her father and mother, Cecil and Opal Perkins Jordan, along with her sister-in- law, Mary Jordan.
Joyce is survived by her husband of 58 years, Cecil William Curry, who resides in the Grace Care Center at Northpointe. In addition, she is survived by their three daughters, Janice Whitman-Vierus and husband Gary, Nancy Nicholson, and Cathy Williams and husband Michael.
Also surviving are her older brother, Bill Jordan, her younger brother, Leon and wife Mary, her sister-in-law, Aileen Schaffer; along with brother-in-law, Donald Curry and wife Rose.
Grandchildren: Kayla Markert-Rose and husband James, Aaron Whitman, Christopher Nicholson and wife Rikki, Eric Nicholson, Wendy Bain Klotz and husband Jason, and Jason Bain and wife Precious.
Great-grandchildren: Gavin Rose, Raileigh Nicholson, Abbygail Nicholson, Reagan Klotz, Vaughn Klotz, Stetson Bain, along with many nieces and nephews.
Joyce was a wife, a mother, an aunt, a friend, and a very sweet, special woman. Her career in life was taking care of Cecil and the three girls. She managed all of the finances in the Curry home and she knew how to save a dime and make it turn into a dollar. She enjoyed being a mother and later a grandmother, and great-grandmother. Joyce will be missed by those who knew her and loved her.
Friends are invited to visit with her family from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 28, at Klein Funeral Home, 1400 W. Main, Tomball, TX 77375. Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 29, in the funeral home chapel, with interment to follow in Klein Memorial Park in Pinehurst.
