Joyce Anita Alexander passed away on October 29, 2022 at the age of 78 in Houston, Texas where she lived for over 48 years. Joyce is preceded in death by her husband Mack Alexander, parents Tillman and Anita Shoults, and her brother Jimmie (Vesta) Shoults. She is survived by her siblings, Patsy (C.L.) Girdner, Judy (Buster) Grigg and Jack (Cindy) Shoults; two children Keri Alexander and Phillip Alexander; and her grandchildren, Blake Underwood, Collin (Kimberlyn) Underwood, Beau Alexander and Grace Alexander.

Joyce was born in Big Spring, TX and was raised in Forsan where she attended school, played basketball and graduated as valedictorian. She met her husband of 57 years at Hardin Simmons University and married in 1964, one week after he graduated. Joyce was a faithful wife and mother following Mack as he pursued employment in several small towns in West Texas and New Mexico eventually to permanently reside in Houston in 1975 where they lived together in the same home until her death raising their 2 children. She was active in the community and her church. Her love for her family and sports (specifically the Houston Astros, Dallas Cowboys, and the Fightin' Texas A&M Aggies) shaped her life. She served faithfully being a solid rock of permanence to others; her dependence on God during the ups and downs in her family's lives was always evident.  She supported others consistently and respectfully in her life, but the most important decision she made was to love Jesus with all her heart, all her soul, all her mind, and all her strength and taught others to do the same. Her love and trust in God enabled her to diligently support her family and friends, always putting others before herself regardless of the need.

Funeral services will be held November 4, 2022 at 2 pm with visitation beginning at 12:30 pm the same day at Klein Funeral Home, 9719 Wortham Blvd, Houston, TX 77065.  Committal will take place at Klein Memorial Park Cypress immediately following the funeral service, 14711 Cypress North Houston Rd, Cypress, TX 77429.
