Joy Marie (Jenkins) Knight, a loving and devoted wife and mother, went home to be with her Lord on February 14, 2019 at the age of 91.  Born to Ralph and Awilda Jenkins on January 22, 1928, Joy spent her childhood years in Newark, TX before the family moved to Buna, TX.  She graduated early from Kirbyville High School and attended Baylor University and Sam Houston State University, earning a Bachelors Degree in Education.  Joy taught elementary school for many years, primarily in the Livingston and Cleveland school districts.  She was a member of Livingston First United Methodist Church for 50 years.  Joy was preceded in death by her parents and by her husband and high school sweetheart, Houston J. (H.J.) Knight.  She is survived by her sister, Nell Anderson, her children Ralph and Lydia Knight, Kathryn and Robert Travis, and Sharon Knight as well as seven grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren plus beloved nieces and nephews.  Memorials may be made to Livingston First United Methodist Church.
