Joy Ann Mitchell Coalson

1932 - 2021

Joy Ann Mitchell Coalson, 89, passed from this life Wednesday, November 10, 2021, at home after a lengthy illness.

Joy was the widow of the love of her life, E. M. Coalson.  They shared 44 years of marriage together and had three beautiful children:  Connie Ann, Steven Wayne and Cynthia Joy.

Born in Brady, TX, Joy was the daughter of Mark and Annie Mitchell.  She graduated from the University of Texas and worked many years for the Klein School District as a guidance counselor.

Joy was a member of Champion Forest Baptist Church. She participated in various charity groups including New Missions, Overseas Mission Fellowship, Sewing for Haiti and the CFBC Crochet group, just to mention a few. Joy will always be remembered for her generosity and kindness.

Joy is survived by her sister, Virginia Yates and her niece, Diana Rodriguez and husband, Rudy, and Diana's two children, Taylor and Rachael. She was preceded in death by her husband, "M", and their three children.

It is Joy's wish that no funeral service be held. She will be deeply missed by her friends, family and all who knew her.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Coalson Family Scholarship in Memory of Cynthia Joy Coalson at Sam Houston State University.  Donations can be mailed to:
