It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Joshua Scott Carrera, who went to be with the Lord on June 1, 2026 at the age of 29. Josh was born on July 8, 1996 to Andrea Loch and Rodney Carrera.

To know Josh was to love him. Affectionately known as Uncle Joshy, Jeesh, and Baby Boy, he had a larger-than-life personality and never met a stranger. You always knew when Josh walked into a room. His contagious smile, infectious laugh, and gift for making connections drew people to him wherever he went. Whether he was striking up a conversation with someone he had just met or making a lifelong friend laugh, Josh had a way of making everyone feel seen and valued.

Josh loved deeply and lived fully. He shared five wonderful years with the love of his life, Hannah Crosby, and treasured every moment they spent together. He also adored his beloved dog, Ollie, who was a constant companion and source of joy.

A proud graduate of Klein Collins High School and later of Texas State University, Josh carried his Bobcat pride with him wherever he went. He was also a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan and rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on his team.

Josh possessed a remarkable gift with words and people. He could talk to anyone about anything. Family and friends often joked that if there was a deal to be made, Josh would find it. He had an uncanny ability to negotiate a lower price, score a discount, or walk away with something extra—usually all three. His charm, confidence, drive, and genuine interest in others opened countless doors and helped him accomplish so much in the time he was given. At the time of his passing, Josh worked for Enhabit Home Health and had recently celebrated earning his first major bonus, an accomplishment he was incredibly proud of and had worked hard to achieve.

Above all else, Josh loved the Lord. His faith was reflected in the way he treated others—with kindness, generosity, and a joyful spirit. The verse that best captures the life he lived is Matthew 5:16: "Let your light shine so before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven." Josh's light shined brightly, and its impact will continue to be felt by all who knew him.

Josh is survived by the love of his life, Hannah Crosby; his parents, Rodney Carrera and Andrea Loch; his stepparents, Shawn Carrera and William Loch; his brother, John McCandless, and sister-in-law, Sarah McCandless; his siblings, Brittany Loch, Bryan Loch and wife Cynthia, and Chelsie Valerio and husband Peter; his grandparents, Carol and Eddie Lazo, Thomas Will, James William Loch, and Wanna McClannahan; his beloved dog, Ollie; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends who will cherish his memory forever.

Josh is preceded in death by his grandmother, Lydia Carrera; grandfather, Anthony Carrera Jr.; cousin Brett Brown; and aunt, Laura Brown.
Though our hearts are broken by this loss, we rejoice in the promise of eternal life and take comfort in knowing that Josh is in the presence of his Savior. We will forever miss his laughter, his unwavering love for others, and the unmistakable joy he brought into every room he entered. His light will continue to shine in the countless lives he touched.
