Joseph Thompson Reese, of Houston, Texas, passed away on February 23, 2023, at the age of 83. He was born on April 5, 1939, in Fredericktown, Missouri, the only child of Edgar Harmon and Inez Edmonson Reese.

He grew up in Guymon, Oklahoma, where his father worked for a pipeline company. He attended Guymon High School, playing football and was an Oklahoma All-State player. That led him to obtain a scholarship to the University of Tulsa, where he was a member of Kappa Sigma. An injury in his junior year sidelined his football career.

After receiving a B.S. in Business Administration in 1969, he remained in Tulsa, where he went to work for The National Bank of Tulsa as a Trust Officer.

He served in the United States Marine Corps Reserves, receiving an Honorable Discharge in 1969, after obtaining the rank of Sergeant. After moving to Houston in 1975, he began working in the oil and gas industry as a right of way specialist. He worked for several companies, including Gullett & Associates, Liberty National Gas, Tejas Gas and Coral Resources, retiring in 2020.

He is preceded in death by his parents and a son, Scott Thompson Reese. He is survived by his wife of 47 years Shirley. Son, Bryan Stewart Reese. Daughter, Elizabeth Lianne Reese-Cefaratti. Son-in-law, Joseph Russell Cefaratti. Grandchildren, Noah Reese-Cefaratti, Abigail Rose Cefaratti, Chloe Anne Cefaratti, Nicholas Lee Reese and Timber Reese. Great-Grandson, Grayson Michael Reese.

A memorial service will be held April 4, 2023, at 3:00 pm at Klein Memorial Park 32439 TX SH 249 Pinehurst, TX 77362
