Obituary

Joseph Edward Johnson passed away on the evening of September 29, 2016 , in Houston, Texas, after his two year b J attle with cancer. Joe was 39 years old.

Joe Johnson was born in the city of Mount Vernon, Ohio on April 19, 1977. He was the third child of Mary Jo and Everette Johnson.

Joe was raised in Mount Vernon, and attended Mount Vernon High School where he was active in sports and music. He played Football, Basketball and Baseball and played drums in his spare time. In addition to organized sports, Joe enjoyed riding dirt bikes and working with his father and older brother Jon on the various sports cars and muscle cars that found their way to their house.

After graduating from high school, Joe moved to Raleigh, North Carolina where he studied for and became a Paramedic. While working as a Paramedic in Raleigh, he also attended North Carolina State University, School of Engineering where he graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Upon graduation, Joe moved to Houston, Texas where he took a job with Cameron Corporation, Reciprocating Products, as a Product Engineer. While at Cameron, Joe was offered his current position in Cameron Drilling Products as an Engineer Manager in their Technical Support team which recently became a division of Schlumberger. Joe was passionate about his career and was a successful leader and valued team member.

Joe has two children, Olivia age 11, and Ian age 7, and was recently married to Holly Thompson, who tirelessly stayed with him throughout his battle with cancer.

Prior to becoming ill, Joe was an avid runner and biker, and competed in several triathlon and marathon events around the Houston area.

Joe was a loving husband, father, son and brother and will be missed greatly by all his family and friends.

Joe was preceded in death by his grandparents, Everette and Dolly Johnson of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Bill Mahan, also of Indianapolis.

Joe is survived by his wife Holly Johnson, and his two children, Olivia and Ian, his parents, Everette and Mary Jo Johnson, brother Jon Johnson, Tampa, Florida and his sister Jennifer Wallace, St. Charles, Illinois, his grandmother Betty Mahan of Columbus, Ohio, along with numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Services will held on October 3, 2016, at the Klein Funeral Home, Tomball Texas from 5pm to 8pm (Rosary from 7-8pm will also be offered). On Tuesday, October 4, 2016 there will be a Funeral Mass at 11am held at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Plantersville, Texas, and burial at the Klein Memorial Cemetery, Tomball, Texas.
