Joseph H. Jacobs Jr. November 7, 1945 – August 30, 2025

Joseph H. Jacobs Jr., 79, of Klein, Texas, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2025.

Joe was born on November 7, 1945, in East St. Louis Illinois to Alfreda Stoll and Howard Jacobs, who preceded him in death.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Linda Wuest Jacobs, with whom he shared a rich and joyful life. Together they raised two daughters, Jennifer Goodwin (Brian) and Melissa Goedde (Christian), who carry on his legacy.

Joe was a proud and loving grandfather to Rachel and Jacob Goodwin and Tess and Lila Goedde, each of whom brought him immense joy. He is also survived by his younger brother, John Jacobs (Mary), as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins who were an important part of his extended family.

Joe graduated from Purdue University with a degree in Chemical Engineering in 1967 and began a lifelong career with Shell Oil Company. He married Linda on March 23, 1968, and the two embarked on a life filled with adventure and love. His work took the family to many places—including The Netherlands, Orange County, California, and Saudi Arabia—but they always found their way back to Houston, which they considered home. Joe retired in 2004 after a distinguished career marked by dedication and excellence.

He deeply valued education and hard work and instilled those values in his children and grandchildren. His years living abroad fostered a love of travel, and in retirement, he and Linda explored the world together—often joined by their dear friends, Dick and Nancy Nash.

Joe never lost his sense of curiosity. He had a lifelong passion for learning, especially in the field of astronomy, which he joyfully shared with his grandchildren. He also loved good food and wine, classic cars, James Bond movies, music, and dancing. He had a wonderful sense of humor, a great singing voice, and a warm, generous spirit that brightened the lives of all who knew him.

A memorial service will be held at Northwoods Presbyterian Church on September 4 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to Meals on Wheels through Northwest Assistance Ministries, Northwoods Presbyterian Church, or a cause close to your heart.

Joe will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished by all who had the honor of knowing him.
