Joseph Kirk Flanagan was born in New Bern, North Carolina on November 5, 1963, and passed away in Cypress, Texas on October 4, 2023.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mary Lee Flanagan; his brother, Forrest Woods; and sister, Nancy "Honey" Richards.

Joseph is survived by his loving wife, Pam Flanagan; his son, Jake Flanagan; brother, Gifford Anglim; and sister, Lee Henderson.

Jose' fell in love with the ocean during his childhood attending sea camp and teaching sailing lessons at girl scout camp where his sister was the director. After high school graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He was a distinguished graduate at Submarine Communication Technician School and shortly after received an appointment to the U.S. Naval Academy. After graduation from the academy, he served on the USS Robert E. Peary and the USS Haleakala as a Surface Warfare Officer. His last appointment was at the Naval Education and Training Program Management Support Activity in Pensacola, FL. While in Pensacola he graduated with an MBA from the University of West Florida. He also spent time sailing on Pensacola Bay which led him to his future wife.

After his honorable discharge from the U.S. Navy, Joe worked as a logistics manager for Schneider National and Ryder. His hobbies included sailing, running, biking, keeping an aquarium and gardening. He was a loving husband, beloved father, and friend. He will be remembered for his infectious laugh and kind heart!

He will be laid to rest in a graveside service at 11:00 am on Friday, October 13, 2023.
