Josefina Solis Shepherd was born in MaGaffey, New Mexico, on Mach 29, 1929 and died on November 23,2024, in Cypress, Texas after a prolonged illness.
She was preceded in death by her parents Cipriano Solis-Dena and Maria Refugio-Montero; her husband Master Sergeant Vern Donald Shepherd; her sons Ray Vern Shepherd and Victor Jaime Shepherd; and her grandson Victor Ray Shepherd.
She is survived by her daughter Marta Shepherd Arnold and husband Forest Arnold, son David Joseph Shepherd; grandchildren Michael Arnold and wife Heather Arnold, Cody Shepherd, Michelle Shepherd Muysenberg and husband Ryan Muysenberg, Kyle Shepherd, and Nathan Shepherd; great grandchildren Caitlyn and Ava Arnold, Parker Shepherd, and Grant and Cora Muysenberg.
As an Army wife, Josefina lived with her husband and family in El Paso, Texas; San Antonio Texas; Fort Riley, Kansas; and Bad Kreuznach, Germany. She lived in El Paso with her family after her husband retired from the Army. She moved to Cypress in 2000 to be near her daughter and son.
Josefina enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, and landscape painting. She was an excellent seamstress and a skilled self-taught landscape artist.
