Obituary

Josefa Pin, affectionately nicknamed "Fefa," went to be with her Lord and Savior at age 92 on December 10, 2024 in The Woodlands, Texas. She was born on June 28, 1932 in Trinidad, Cuba to Carlos and Hortencia Echerri. Her parents later moved to Havana where she grew up. After high school she attended telegraph school and met the love of her life, Jose Pin. They married in 1954, had 2 daughters and began a 70-year adventure together. An adventure it surely was!

For political reasons, in 1964 the Pins moved to Spain where they lived for 3 months awaiting their visas into the USA. They settled in New Jersey for 4 years. Learning to speak English was quite a feat for Josefa at age 32! They later moved to Southern California, seeking warmer weather. They spent most of their lives there before relocating to The Woodlands, TX in 2007.

Josefa was an intelligent woman, who in Cuba ran the local post office after working years as a telegraph operator. She ended her career as a personal assistant to the head of Human Resources at Interstate Engineering. However, during her childrearing years, what stood out was how devoted & loving she was to her daughters, husband and other family members. She was passionate about working side by side with Jose on many projects as a loyal partner. She was a warm, friendly woman who loved being a doting grandma to her grandchildren. Josefa also liked to garden, loving plants and flowers of all kinds. When she lived in La Mirada, CA her covered patio looked like a magical plant nursery. Josefa & Jose worked hard and were lucky enough to travel the world. They experienced many adventures together and some included their daughters & grandson, Mike.

Josefa loved to cook and was great at it! Her family was blessed with her delicious cooking at many family get togethers. She was also an animal lover. She had several pets throughout her life and four years ago, Josefa and Ana brought a beagle puppy home. They named her, Bella, and she became one of Josefa's most loyal companions in her last several years.

Josefa was initially survived by her husband, Jose, but he joined her in heaven within months. She is survived by her daughters; Ana Pin and Lourdes Michel and husband, William (Bill). Josefa was blessed with four grandchildren: Michael Brache and wife, Amber; Ryan Michel and wife, Kristy; Nicole and Ashley Michel. Josefa was privileged to meet her great-grandchildren; Jacob Brache (17), Emma Brache (16), Lucy Michel (9), Bailey Michel (7), Owen Michel (3) and two others she didn't get to meet. Josefa was also survived by her dearly beloved brother, Carlos Echerri; a niece, Olgui Echerri and nephew, Felipe Echerri.

Josefa's faith in her Lord Jesus Christ was very important to her. Her family and friends will always cherish the memories they made with her. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all those who had the privilege of knowing her.

A Celebration of Josefa's Life will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, March 1st at Woodsedge Community Church, 25333 Gosling Rd., Spring, TX 77389. A Cuban dessert reception will follow in their honor.
