Jose Pin, age 94, of The Woodlands, TX was called into his heavenly home on February 11, 2025. He was affectionately known as "Pepin" to those that knew him. Jose was born on December 26, 1930 to Jose Pin Lombardero and Eulalia Pin in Havana, Cuba. His father became seriously ill when Jose was only 3 months old and chose to return to his native Spain. Jose was thus raised by his then single mother. She never remarried.

Jose attended a Catholic parochial school growing up through an underprivileged grant. He later went to teletype/telegraph school where he met the love of his life, Josefa Pin. They married in 1954, had 2 daughters and began quite an adventurous 70-year marriage together. Jose was employed by a Cuban news agency after graduation. Jose's outgoing and positive outlook on life enhanced Josefa's personality. They were like two cardinals together!

While the Pin Family was waiting to leave Cuba due to a changing political climate and persecution, Jose reconnected with a pastor he had met 16 years earlier. Through this contact, both Jose and Josefa accepted Christ as their Lord and Savior. That decision changed their lives forever. In 1964 the Pins moved to Spain where they lived for 3 months awaiting their visas into the USA.

Upon arrival, they settled in New Jersey. One week after arriving, Jose was blessed to be employed by United Press International (UPI) in New York as a teletype operator. That was quite a stretch speaking only broken English taught to him by an English professor in Cuba! He worked for UPI for 4 years before moving to Southern California in 1968 in pursuit of warmer weather. In California he was employed by the Associated Press (AP) in Los Angeles. He worked there until teletypes were automated. He retired from Hughes Aircraft as a quality control inspector for military optical lenses. The Pins lived in California for most of their adult lives before relocating to The Woodlands, TX in 2007.

Upon moving to California, Jose also became interested in rental property. He started slowly, but eventually developed a small rental property business which still exists today. Jose was private, always living below his means. He never forgot where he came from. He was very outgoing, witty, a hard worker, possessed an iron will, and always saw the glass half full. He based his life on "With God Everything is Possible" and he lived out that belief. Jose was also a devoted father who truly loved both his daughters and family, but adored his wife, Fefa. Because of Jose's adventurous spirit, together they traveled the world. He absolutely loved the experience of having grandsons after having had daughters. Jose later fell in love with his two granddaughters when they came along.

Jose is survived by his daughters; Ana Pin and Lourdes Michel and husband, William (Bill). He was blessed with four grandchildren: Michael Brache and wife, Amber; Ryan Michel and wife, Kristy; Nicole and Ashley Michel. Jose was privileged to meet his great-grandchildren; Jacob Brache (17), Emma Brache (16), Lucy Michel (9), Bailey Michel (7), Owen Michel (3) and two others he didn't get to meet.

A Celebration of Jose's Life will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, March 1st at Woodsedge Community Church, 25333 Gosling Rd., Spring, TX 77389. A Cuban dessert reception will follow in their honor.
