Jose Miguel Manzano, also lovingly called "Gordito", passed from this life on Wednesday November 1st, 2023 in Houston, TX at the age of 36 years old. He was born on March 19th, 1987 in Houston, TX to Miguel and Maria Manzano.
While shopping one Thursday morning, Maria went into labor and unexpectedly received a "2-for-1" deal with twins. Gordito was born 9 minutes before Josue making him the first son in the family. As a newborn, Gordito fought and survived Meningitis making him their Angel. Gordito attended Lane School through the age of 19 and graduated from Klein Forest High School in 2009.
He enjoyed strolling through the mall with his nieces and nephew at his feet and on his handle bars. Quite the foodie, Gordito enjoyed frequenting restaurants with his family, Pappadeaux being his favorite. He loved being at the center of attention and partying with good music. A favorite pastime of his would be chewing on his chupon – which had the entire family hunting for his discontinued preferred type. His family will miss his loving hair-pulling, sloppy kisses, passionate pinches, playful high-fives, and expressive "trompitas". Gordito was man of few words, but one word he knew well, was "Mama" – the only word he ever needed. Like any father-son relationship, he would often throw tantrums at his father. Gordito loved his family, and although he couldn't see them, he would immediately recognize their voice.
A guardian angel to his family, Gordito will be heavily missed and deeply remembered. Those left to cherish his memories are his father and mother, Miguel and Maria Manzano; sister and husband, Daniel and Mariella Gonzalez; brother and wife, Josue and Erika Manzano; brother and forever girlfriend, Manuel Manzano and Lily Nguyen; nieces, Eden and Amaris Gonzalez, and Brielle Manzano; nephews, Israel Manzano, Isaiah Osorio, Daniel II and Noah Gonzalez, Godmother Magdalena Cuello, along with his extended family. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Manuel Manzano.
A visitation will be held Monday, November 6, 2023 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm with a rosary to start promptly at 11:30 am at Klein Funeral Home-Champions. A funeral service will immediately follow at 2:00 pm at Klein Funeral Home-Champions.
Arrangements are entrusted to Klein Funeral Home-Champions.
