Obituary

Jose (Joe) Guadalupe Banda

Jose G. Banda passed away peacefully Saturday, February 11, 2017 in Seabrook, Texas, while in the loving company of his immediate family, after a one year battle with pancreatic cancer. Joe, a dedicated and loving father, grandfather, uncle and a beloved husband— was born on July 7, 1947 in San Benito, Texas. He is survived by his wife and partner in life – Carmen T. Barron Banda, his mother Angela Sanchez Banda, his children – Joe Raul Banda (Shelly), Cynthia Guidry (Duane), Erika Banda-Watterson (Brandon) and Lollie Bennett (Dave Jr.); his grandkids – Alexa, Anniston and Adrian Banda, Taylor Guidry, Linkoln, Franklynn and Buckannon Watterson; his siblings – Vicente Banda (Mary), the late Maria Luisa Govea (Joe), Juana Hinojosa (Arturo), Jorge Banda (Diana), Jesse Banda (Dolores), Enedina Bush (Rudy), Antonio Banda, Graciela Lopez (Phillip), Enedelia Rodriguez (Jesse) and Adriana Lopez (Joe); his sister-in-laws Juana Barron and Santa Camargo and MANY loving nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father Alberto Banda.

Joe proudly served six years with the Texas National Guard. He met his future wife 50 years ago at a Valentine's Day dance; upon marrying Carmen in south Texas, they decided to move to Houston to make their life there. Joe was a hard working family man – he loved nothing more than to be around his children and grandchildren. He was a wonderful surrogate father and strong role model to his nieces and nephews, many of the kids he coached and many of the friends of his kids.
