Obituary

Jonathan Simmons, 32, of Delray Beach, Florida, went home and found rest in the arms of Jesus on Friday, July 26, 2019.

Jonathan was born on Thursday, December 11, 1986 in Houston, Texas to Russell and Charisse Simmons.

He is survived by his parents, Russell & Charisse Simmons; his sister, Brittany Simmons; his brothers, Joshua Simmons and Daniel Hembree; and his grandfather, Charles T. Holloway (aka Pappaw).

Jonathan attended school, grades K – 3rd, at Northwest Academy.  He attended school in Klein ISD from 4th grade through 12th grade: Ehrhardt Elementary, Doerre Intermediate and Klein High School. In 2005/2006, Jonathan spent his freshman college year at University of Texas at Brownsville and then in 2006/2007, spent his sophomore college year at Hutson Tillotson in Austin, Texas.

From birth, Jonathan was filled with happiness and a quest for life and adventure.  As a small boy, he developed a strong interest in reptiles.  By the time he was 10 years old, he had over 42 different species of snakes domestic to Texas residing in cages in our garage.  He also had various species of lizards, turtles and frogs.

Jonathan participated in many activities throughout his life.  He started out in swimming and gymnastics at 5 years old, then went on to play football, baseball and basketball.  He found his true love and passion in baseball.  Jonathan excelled as a pitcher and played through his sophomore year of college.  A shoulder injury would take him out of the game, but the love and passion for the game never left his heart.

Jonathan also loved fishing…………..especially with his Pappaw!! His happy place was on the beach or near the water! Florida was a perfect location for him as he was surrounded by the outdoors he loved so much!!

For the past two years, Jonathan worked at Cold Air Distributors in Boyton Beach, Florida.  Cold Air was not just a job to Jonathan, it was family.  He loved the relationships he made there and was looking forward to an awesome future with his Florida family!! Words will never be able to express the gratitude and love we have for them for their continued love and support……….. and for the difference they made in Jonathan's life.

In closing, Jonathan's most precious treasures were his relationships.  He loved people and was passionate about helping others.  He was funny and quick witted, had a way of lighting up a room and bringing happiness to every situation.  Jonathan is now healthy, happy and filled with peace………….and I am sure he is lighting up the room in Heaven!!
