Jonathan was born on June 05, 1983, in Houston, TX, and left us on May 28, 2026.

He was the youngest in the family and attended Haude Elementary, Strack Intermediate and Klein Oak High School in Spring, TX.  He was active in school activities and played football, basketball, baseball, soccer and ran track.

Following his High School graduation, Jonathan enlisted in the United States Army in August of 2002, served his country for four years, and was Honorably Discharged in 2006. He completed Infantry One Station Unit Training and US Army Airborne School at Ft. Benning Georgia and served four years as a Paratrooper in the elite 82nd Airborne Division's 3rd Battalion, 325th Airborne Infantry Regiment, deploying twice in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. In 2003, Jonathan's unit participated in some of the most intense combat operations of the invasion of Iraq, including the Battle of Samawah for which the 3rd Battalion was awarded the Presidential Unit Citation. In 2004, he redeployed to Iraq with the 3/325 in order to provide security during the first democratic elections to be held in that country. In addition to the Presidential Unit Citation, Jonathan's decorations include the Iraq Campaign Medal, Parachutist Badge, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary and Service Medals, and Army Service Ribbon.  Upon his discharge from the military, he was diagnosed with PTSD and other health issues, which he struggled with for the remainder of his life.

Jonathan returned home to Spring, TX, to be near family and friends.  After returning home, he held several different jobs. He was a dependable worker, but his health concerns presented many challenges to his work-life.  Jonathan was an avid fan and LOVED the Houston Texans and watching sports on TV.  He was BIG hearted and VERY friendly.  He could, and DID, talk to anyone.  He enjoyed cooking and sharing his specialty, deviled eggs. He was loved more than he knew.

Jonathan is survived by his mother, Sandy Giessinger; father, Lawrence Giessinger; siblings and their families:  Kim McDonald; Chris & Trish Giessinger, Benjamin, Neeley and Maggie; Nathan & Brandi Giessinger, Logan, Owen and Lily; Sarah & Jason Nichols, Audie and Waylon; Lance & Anna Giessinger, Emil.  As well as numerous Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and their families.

We know that Jonathan is now at Peace with the Lord.  He was deeply loved and will be deeply missed.
