Jon Barry Milliken passed away on November 28 ^th , 2022, at home in Cypress, Texas, at the age of 71. He was surrounded by family after a 5-year, hard-fought battle with renal cancer.   Jon is survived by his wife, Vicki Milliken, of Cypress and their children, Melissa Anderson of Cypress and Robert Milliken of San Antonio.  Melissa and her husband, Clinton, have two children Liam and Ian.  Robert and his wife, Terra, have twins Ella and Zane.

Jon was born in Kansas City, Missouri, on July 10, 1951 and raised by his parents Lawrence and Jeane Milliken in Americas, Kansas.   Growing up, Jon worked closely with his dad at the family grain elevator, driving semi-trucks, building barns and farming structures, and running the business.  Jon loved science; and at age 14, he had already built an 8" refracting telescope from hand-ground optics.  Jon graduated high school in 1969 as Valedictorian.  He was accepted into Kansas State University's mechanical engineering program and then completed his education with a Master's of Science from the same university.

Jon met the love of his life, Vicki Otten, while attending Kansas State University.   They married on August 12, 1972 and moved to Marshalltown, Iowa, where Jon was hired as a mechanical engineer at Fisher Controls.   Jon designed and built the family's first house in the Marshalltown country-side.

Jon pursued a career as a leader in industrial automation and became an industry icon where his influence will continue into the future.  Jon had 5 patents throughout the years and was most known for the ROC, Remote Operations Controller, product line.   Jon's career took him from Marshalltown to Houston in 2001 where he remained until his retirement as a Senior Executive VP at Emerson in 2014.

Jon stayed in Houston after his retirement.  He loved to entertain family and friends with loud music, good food, and backyard shenanigans!  Jon was a jokester, prankster, and life of the party throughout his life.  Jon continued to pursue his hobbies of reading (mostly science fiction), gardening, house projects, and biking.  Jon also thoroughly loved entertaining his four grandchildren with rides on the golf cart, fishing, biking, and trips to Disney World!

Jon used his retirement years to enjoy life with family and friends.  He enjoyed vacationing at many world destinations with his favorite being Aruba.
