Meurriell Jolene "Rickey" Thompson was born in Madisonville, Texas on July 9, 1942, and passed away in the arms of her loving family on May 18, 2022 in Houston, Texas.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Richard "Dick" Thompson, and her parents, Valley Mae and James Carroll Hamby.

Rickey is survived by her sons, Lance Thompson and wife Kris, and Rory Thompson and wife Sharon Ognowski; grandchildren, Sarah Bircher and fiancé Keith Caruthers, April Cernota, Alex Thompson, and Amber Thompson; great-grandchildren, Penny Caruthers and Logan Caruthers; sister Ladelle Roberts; as well as many nieces and nephews including Sheri and James Sears and children, Amy and Aaron Westbrook and children, and Matt and Jolyn Johnson and children.

After graduating high school, Rickey moved from her hometown of Madisonville to Houston where she met Dick. They went on to grow their family and soon had two boys. They shared a love of travel, taking many trips during their marriage. They also both enjoyed ballroom dancing, competing in (and winning!) many swing dance competitions.

Rickey divided her time between caring for her family, working, and was also very involved in civics. She helped to found a republican club for professional women in Northwest Houston, was a long-time and integral member of the Northwest Forest Republican Women, served as President of the Greater Houston Council of Federated Republican Women, and eventually spent time in Austin during session while working for state representatives. She served as Ted Poe's Campaign Manager in his run for office and served on the campaign team for George H. W. Bush.

After the early and unexpected death of her husband Dick, Rickey took up the mantle of running his business, Southwestern Laser. She continued traveling and was active on the Houston Rodeo Committee.

Staying close to her family and friends was the most important thing to Rickey. She felt blessed by the continued love and support of all throughout her life.

The family welcomes all to join them to celebrate Rickey's life at the 1:00 pm viewing and the 2:00 pm funeral service on Saturday, May 28, 2022 at Klein Funeral Home, 16131 Champion Forest Drive in Spring, Texas.

Immediately following, she will be laid to rest during a committal service at Klein Memorial Park in Pinehurst, Texas.

Afterwards, those who would like to share a meal with the family are encouraged to meet them at one of Rickey's favorite restaurants, Goodson's Café, at 27931 Highway 249 in Tomball, Texas.
