Johnny Lee Hill, born in Portales, NM in 1937 to parents Emory Thomas & Lola Mae Hill. His mother passed in 1949 & he & his dad moved to Houston when he was 12 years old. He graduated from Jeff Davis High School. He went to night school at San Jacinto College where he got his degree in engineering.
Johnny married Jimmie Lu Thompson in 1961 & shortly thereafter was drafted into the army. He was sent to Germany for 2 years where he was able to travel Europe as a member of the rifle team. After returning home he worked for HL&P for 3 years, Cameron Iron Works for 17 years & Compaq Computer for 12 years where he took early retirement.
John & Jimmie had 2 children. Mark Lee Hill of Houston & Tiffany Michele Hill of
Houston. In their early years John coached baseball for Mark & softball for Tiffany.
They have 5 grandchildren. Taylor, Christian, & Lexi Villarreal & Megan & Alyssa Hill. They also have multiple nephews & nieces.
John took an interest in photography while he was in Germany and it became a side business as well as his biggest hobby. He won several photography contests throughout the years and in his latter years he was known for his photography in Facebook photography groups. John was always one of the biggest Astros fans! Loved going to the games and watching them on tv… he never missed a game!
