Obituary

John M. Goodyear, loving husband, father and grandfather, went to be with the Lord, May 23, 2020.

He was born June 21, 1941 in Mineral Wells, Texas, and grew up in Midland, Texas. He attended Texas Tech University in Lubbock, before settling in Houston to attend the University of Houston.

He was predeceased by his parents, D. Goodyear and Wilma Simpson Goodyear. He is survived by his wife of 46 yrs. Charlette Goodyear, son John J. Goodyear, grandson Jack Goodyear, brother Robert Goodyear, sister-in-law Debbie Tanner, nieces Niki Goodyear Patteson, Cassandra Goodyear, Courtney Tanner, and nephew Miles Goodyear. He will be greatly missed by loving friends, Gayle Patton, Gloria Quackenbush, Greg & Anita Cobb, Mollie Tinnell and their families. The family would also like to thank Paula Savage and Janice Brandl Hill for their love and support.

John was proud to have served in the United States Marine Corps, attaining the rank of Sgt. 1st Class. He worked for over 30 years in the insurance industry and retired as an agent and certified insurance counselor.

John enjoyed fishing, golfing with his family, being outdoors and was always happy anywhere near the water. He was a thoughtful and kind man, always helping others when needed. He loved nature and took sweet care of his many pets throughout his life, including any and all that wandered into his yard.

A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Semper Fi.
