On Thursday, June 20, 2024, John "Skip" William Warren, 77, passed away peacefully surrounded by his beloved wife of 54 years, Coleen, and his children.

Skip was born on February 1, 1947 in Colorado City, Texas to Pete and Virginia Reese Warren. He was born and raised in Colorado City and graduated from Colorado High School in 1965. He was active in football, baseball, band, and church. After high school, he attended Texas Tech where his love for the Red Raiders and his wife Coleen began.

Skip and Coleen married on October 18, 1969. In his early years, he worked as a manager for Neiman Marcus at the Downtown Dallas store, Xerox, and Mixer Southwest. He spent a majority of his career in outside sales for hydraulic pumps and motors for TAD Hydraulics and Century Hydraulics. He never met a stranger and Skip was always extremely involved in any community he was a part of. He served as a board member for the HOA and MUD district, working hard for all his neighbors.  He had 4 children, John, Crystal, Josh, and Ellen, whom he coached as The Running Reds in T-Ball. Skip showed up for anything and everything his children were involved in, and he was always their #1 Fan. Everyone knew Skip and his love for school sports. Whether we were at a swim meet, dance, basketball, volleyball or soccer event, he cheered the loudest and proudest.

He had more school spirit for Texas Tech and Klein Oak than one can imagine. You could drive through any town in Texas and he knew the school's mascot and their star athletes…he quizzed anyone that was with him and he never needed google. Any and everyone who came across Skip would soon learn he was the "#1 Red Raider Fan In The World," and you'd always leave with a "Guns Up to Everybody!"

Skip was the kindest and hardest working man you ever met and was a devoted husband, father, Big Daddy and friend to many. He believed that everyone had good in them and he focused on that. He would give you the shirt off his back and donated to many causes and charities, as giving was a passion for him. He taught us to be present and see the good in everyone. He was a big teddy bear that loved big and proud, and there was no one he loved more than Coleen. She was his sole purpose and he wouldn't have wanted it any other way.

Skip is preceded in death by his mother and father, Pete and Virginia Warren, and his sisters Charla Northcutt and Carolyn Creager. He is survived by his wife, Coleen Warren, their son John Warren of Lubbock, TX, Daughter Crystal Shaklee and husband Cody Shaklee of Rockwall, TX, son Josh Warren and husband Juan Muniz of Houston, TX, daughter Ellen Warren of Tomball, TX, grandchildren Kade Warren, Tristian Lopez, Thalia Warren, Will Warren, and Carter Shaklee, great grandchildren Cash Warren, Braxtyn Warren, Artemus Lopez, and Elijaha Savedra, plus many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Celebration of Life will be held on September 28, 2024 beginning at 12:00 pm. The celebration will be at his favorite place to be, his lake house in Riverside, TX. The address is 58 Lakeshore Lane, Huntsville, TX 77320. There will be plenty of food and beverages for all. Please bring your favorite Skip story to share.
