Cypress, Texas – John L. White, beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle and brother passed away unexpectedly on Friday, February 4, 2022.
John was born on September 30, 1939, in Estherville, Iowa, where he grew up and lived until he graduated from the University of Iowa with a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering. After graduation, he moved with his first wife Dianne to Overland Park, Kansas, in 1962, where he began a passionate 45-year career with Square D, a manufacturer of electrical equipment. In 1971, John and his family of four, including sons Jack and William, moved to Beaumont, Texas. While in Beaumont, John's third son, Stephen, was born and after three years, Square D transferred the family to Houston. John raised his family in Houston and actively participated in the life of his children. He worked as a Square D sales engineer and consulting engineering specialist, involved in designing electrical construction projects all over the city and during this time, became a proud Houstonian! In 1992, John married his second wife, Ann, and they moved to Fairfield, a subdivision in Cypress, Texas. John and Ann became very active in supporting and nurturing a young church, Good Shepherd United Methodist, and John was part of the Fairfield Homeowners Association Board.
Grandpa John loved his family most of all and enjoyed visiting and spending time with his children and grandchildren, wherever they resided. John and Ann traveled the world together to cities in Europe, Asia and Australia, and along the way, made new friends and shared their Texas spirit. John had a witty sense of humor and never met a stranger – he always looked for opportunities to connect with people through humor. John was a lifelong sports fanatic and adopted Texas A&M as his own after all his sons graduated from there. For many years John and Ann held Texas Aggie football season tickets and enjoyed weekends taking day trips to the games and festivities.
John is preceded in death by his parents, Jack B. and Ruth White. Surviving John are his loving wife, Ann; son and wife, Jack and Laurie of Delray Beach, FL, and their children John and Matthew; son and wife, William and Kristin of Reno, NV, and their children Lindsay and husband Colter Sanford, and Mikaela; son and wife, Stephen and Elaine of Spring, TX and their children Jack Henry and Will; sister Susan King of Wichita Falls, TX; nephew and wife, Greg and Maggie King of Wichita Falls, TX; niece and husband, Sara and Brian Tork of Geneva, IL and their children David, Rachel and Mary; and John's first wife Dianne Wilcox of Spring, TX.
